Who'd stand by his side? I always got the impression that Nan Heng did not trust nor like his Uncle and the only…
He doesn't like his uncle but he still covered up for him and tried to fix the issue because they are uncle and nephew. If he just sent his uncle to be executed straightaway then he'd really be as ruthless and bad as everyone is accusing him.
Okay now that I've caught up with the episodes, I can see why many criticized the FL. Li Yi Tong is doing a great job with what she has, but the character isn't written well. FL has two modes basically: dismissive and sarcastic, and silly and cute. There are moments when FL seems like she uses her brain for once and steps back to think instead of just reacting, but these instances are too few.
The irony is she's supposed to be a stand-in for the viewer, so we see things from her perspective and we definitely should emphathise with her and her desire to survive and keep her life. Yet the scriptwriter, the one writing the drama, hasn't managed to make us like her for the most part. It's frustrating because every character in the drama has had a consistent character development and they are fleshed-out even if the viewer hates them. With only 14 episodes left, I can guess how it's going to end and that's dimmed my enthusiasm somewhat despite the drama being excellent in all other aspects.
