This so bad that there are no words to describe it. For an ORV fan, this adaptation is unrecognizable. For a casual viewer, it's a bad movie with mediocre acting and worse CG and action scenes with a poorly explained plot. Don't bother wasting 2 hours to watch it.
FL and ML's love and allegiances are put to the test. A whole debate on a woman's lack of power in a male dominated society aka Yang Yun's tragic life. The implications that so many officials are involved in the cover up and the inherent risks.
Then we get the Rong side with the Grandmother angry and ready to replace ShanBao with someone else because the Clan is what matters and not one granddaughter. Only the chosen granddaughter this time seems to have her own agenda.
I'm glad to be rid of the Wen Cousin who shows zero remorse for all the things he did, despite FL telling him from the beginning that she had no interest in him.
Seriously, how do you know everything the grandmother says is true? Isn’t it possible she asked others to harm…
Yes, especially when the Rong have so many vassals under them. Honestly this drama is refreshing because the FL (and all the women) are not blinded by love and became stupid.

It's fine to disagree. I'm not taking it personally or anything. But the comments on this page regarding the Grandmother seem to judge her with 21st Century eyes and mores, and I'd agree if this was a modern drama.

It makes sense for her to tell her granddaughter not to make the same mistakes she did. Harsh yes, but I think Shan Bao understood her grandmother's motives which was why she went along with it.
Oh and ML just proved Grandmother's point. I'm looking forward to seeing how he's going to rectify this.

LOL! Your comment is ironic. Because we're watching a drama so what the characters say is true until proven otherwise. You're making a lot of assumptions as well.
All these comments about Ep.19 seem to miss the point that Grandmother didn't do anything to her first husband, she let him go. After he faced the consequences of his actions, he had nowhere else to go and came begging her to take him in. Her revenge was in allowing him to stay and witness the wealth and glory of the Rong family, which he could have shared in if he wasn't such a scumbag. The best revenge is to live well and spite those who hurt you and Grandmother clearly applied this.
i dunno why people hate the grandma! her role is perfect! in a matrimonial household , yes, she is definitely…
Agree. This was an ancient era where women had very little say in anything. For a woman to succeed, she had to be twice as smart and as ruthless as a man.
