A depiction of comedy, complex relationships and sacrifice

RE-WATCH --->

Given that I re-watched it, I’d say this is definitely worth a watch!

Honestly, I kind of love KP. While it has its obvious issues, it’s still really good. The plot is engaging, and the acting and action’s pacing are strong.

Yes, the relationships in the show are quite toxic, and no one is safe from these problematic, dominant gangsters. However, some of them do manage to redeem themselves – Vegas, in particular. And, by the end, you find yourself tolerating Kinn because Porsche does, and it really centres around their relationship, doesn’t it? So, you don’t really have a choice.

It's not a masterpiece but ultimately, I believe the show offers a great portrayal of comedy, complex relationships, and the theme of sacrifice. It’s enjoyable!

Side note: Jeff Satur's OST, "Why Don't You Stay," is the real masterpiece of this entire project. This song tells not just the best emotional love story, but it’s also heart-wrenching given KimPorchay's story.

An overload of love and basil, but no long beans

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this definitely caught me off guard. The chemistry, the storyline, the pacing, and the food shots had me hooked from episode one.

When I discovered that SailubPon and BenzGarfield were involved, I was thrilled. However, considering the premise, I was a bit apprehensive – would this be the Thai live-action version of Food Wars?

Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised!

The pacing of the story was decent, especially since they only had 8 episodes to condense all that content. The couple's storylines were well intertwined, and I appreciated how they developed at different rates. Oab and Plawan had this intense love-hate relationship right from the beginning, while Methas and JJ experienced a more gradual, slow-burn romance as they learned from each other. This kept me engaged throughout the series.

Overall, this is a feel-good, culinary-focused romance drama, and I really enjoyed it!

Worth a chance but remember, this is going to be about the worst job ever!

This was an interesting journey. I ended it on a positive note, but I still found myself quite against most of the couples in the drama.

The romance between Ming and Joe has numerous issues. Let’s not kid ourselves. Ming even handcuffs Joe to a staircase at one point – and not in a fun way! However, I appreciated how they learned to communicate with each other instead of making assumptions and hoping for the best. The growth both Ming and Joe go through throughout the story is also, for a lack of a better expression, kind of heart-warming – these are all positive signs for their future as couple.

It was also very cathartic to watch Tong get what he deserved. I was cheering when he got, quite literally, kicked to the curb! Power to May, let’s go!

Sol deserved better, but his constant interventions were off-putting. Like, move on, my guy! He clearly doesn’t want you, and you’re better off without him.

In a way, I think this show effectively illustrates that rebounding or finding a ‘stand-in’ to fill the void of unrequired love ends up hurting everyone involved rather than solving the existing problem. Ming should have tried to move on instead of pursuing Joe. (Him finding out the actual truth behind Tong’s signature back poster was, perhaps, the BEST part of this drama, not going to lie.)

It also presents a compelling argument about how people exploit someone's naivety and kindness for their own gain, and the consequences that follow.

Overall, I think it’s a worthwhile drama to watch. I wouldn’t rush to see it, but I also wouldn’t skip it. The acting is good, the characters’ interactions are entertaining, and the premise holds an important message.

A good parallel to UWMA and a deep dive into one’s emotions

I ran, and I mean RAN, to watch this when I found out it existed!

WinTeam has my whole heart. I fell in love with them in the main story, so I was really excited to watch this. BounPerm have great chemistry, and I loved their relationship development as they transitioned from friends-with-benefits to actual lovers.

I also enjoyed the small glimpses of the main timeline in UWMA, with Dean and Pharm falling in love in the background and a deeper exploration of Pruk and Manow’s relationship. Additionally, I was thrilled to see couples like TulWaan and BeePrince introduced; they brought me so much joy!

Seeing Santa as Boun’s baby brother was also incredibly wholesome – he's so cute!

Overall, this is definitely worth watching, even if you prefer how the story evolved in UWMA. While it may not do justice to the original, it’s no longer focused on them. If you can let go of that, you’ll find it quite enjoyable.

The red string of fate

I have no words. There’s so much to unpack in this drama – star-crossed lovers, connection through the red string of fate, and a deep dive into the adversity and challenges that gay men have faced and continue to face over the years. I cried my eyes out, especially in the opening scene with InTouch and Korn, and throughout episodes 15 to 17. It was painful, heartbreaking, and beautiful all at once.

The reason I didn’t rate it higher is that I wasn’t connecting with the main couple. Pharm looked uncomfortable ALL the time, even in non-intimate scenes where they were simply looking into each other’s eyes. Dean, unfortunately, seemed to lack any personality whatsoever. I felt like they wouldn’t have ended up together (given that they had nothing in common) if it weren’t for InTouch and Korn’s connection.

Team and Win were my favourites, to be honest. Their relationship was brief on screen, but I felt a greater connection from their few minutes together than I did with Dean and Pharm’s entire storyline. I also appreciated how Manow and Pruk were included in the story. Their relationship felt organic and really wholesome, rather than being just a token straight couple.

Lastly, InTouch and Korn… what can I even say about these boys? Every moment between them was a mix of wholesomeness and heartbreak. They experienced happiness (albeit short-lived), sadness, frustration, understanding, and vulnerability – all these emotions were beautifully portrayed by the actors. I think I had tears in my eyes during every scene because I knew how their story would end.

And the OSTs! An instant addition to my playlist – they were so good, so emotional, and so raw. They set a beautifully tragic tone for these characters.

Overall, I believe this is a truly great drama that everyone should experience at least once in their life.

(Im)Perfect 10 Liners

This was really cute! I also appreciated the format of the series, which combines three stories into 24 episodes (with 11-12 episodes each). This allows you to either binge-watch the entire series or take breaks and intersperse it with other shows if you prefer. It’s refreshing and reduces the pressure to watch everything at once, especially if long series aren't your thing.

Arc and Arm were adorable together, featuring a slight rivals-to-lovers premise. ForceBook are always a joy to watch; they bring fun and good vibes to every series they star in. I also enjoyed seeing Arm’s character development as he grows from his first to second year.

Yotha and Gun's storyline had more depth and significantly more drama. I didn't appreciate most of Yotha's actions in his part of the story, but I understand that his behavior is influenced by his upbringing and the way his first love unfolded. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t dislike him (I think it’s hard for me to feel negatively about anything associated with Perth!). I just wish he had made different choices. Additionally, I liked how the story involving Yotha, Faifa, and their family issues was developed – that was a good, compelling arc that had a wholesome conclusion.

Lastly, Faifa and Wine brought me joy throughout their story. The slow burn, the yearning, and the connection between them were simply wonderful, and I enjoyed watching Faifa grow into himself.

Overall, this is a good, albeit typical, GMMTV university drama.

Questionable relationship with a happy ending

This series is good – nothing too complex or deep, but fun to watch. You kind of have to turn off your brain to truly appreciate it, as the writing leaves something to be desired. However, once you do that, it can be quite enjoyable.

I wasn’t a fan of the intern-CEO relationship at first. I’m always cautious about these dynamics, both in series and in real life, because of the power imbalance they can create. However, Gun and Cher didn’t really suffer from this; Gun never used his position to take advantage, and Cher didn’t try to manipulate his boss for personal gain. They felt somewhat like equals, which was refreshing, even if it was a bit unrealistic. In the end, I think it worked out nicely.

I also appreciated that there was already an established gay relationship in the series. It’s amusing how often the only gay relationships in dramas are between the main leads and are framed as being ‘discovered’ or ‘re-discovered,’ rather than being shown as preexisting.

Finally, I think ForceBook have good chemistry, but unfortunately, I didn’t feel much romantic tension between them in this series. I loved their dynamic, but it felt more like they were close friends than lovers.

Overall, I think it’s worth watching. It’s a great way to pass the time – the pacing is decent, so you don’t get bored, and the characters make it fun.

Sweetness overload (but with a few sour notes)

When I first watched this series, I thought it was incredibly sweet. The plot had good pacing and featured engaging side characters. Not only did I love ThomasKong, but I also adored TeeTee, Por, Save, and AuAu. This entire cast is a gem, honestly.

If you enjoy fluff-filled storylines with overly cute boys paired with young, rich CEOs, then you'll find this drama quite enjoyable, as it sets everything up very well.

However, I think the sweetness overload I initially experienced made me overlook a few shortcomings, such as Teerak's childish behaviour. I didn’t realize how annoyed I was with his dramatics until I re-watched the series and couldn’t get past them. I understand he’s supposed to be a young adult in his early twenties, maybe even still in his teens, discovering love and the world for the first time – however, that’s no excuse to baby this character.

I guess the intention was to make him adorable and cutesy, but Kong is around 6 feet tall! It felt off-putting to see a grown-looking man acting like a child. I’m not blaming the actor; I simply think the directors could have taken a different approach with his character. I also didn’t like how they portrayed his kind traits and generosity, which essentially turned him into a doormat. Yes, when you’re too nice and try to please everyone, people will take advantage. But Teerak simply didn’t have a backbone to stand on.

On the other hand, Thomas’ character, Muenfah, was good but slightly unrealistic. The fact that he excelled at almost everything – running a business, maintaining good grades, being a supportive partner, and managing extracurricular activities – felt like too much! This boy is only twenty-one; he’s not a machine.

Lastly, the coming-out scene stood out to me. I appreciated how they portrayed a somewhat realistic homophobic situation, like when the dad watches BL series but is against his son dating a boy. As the scene unfolded, my heart ached because I could predict what was about to happen. Unfortunately, it escalated into an almost violent confrontation, with everyone rallying around Teerak while Muenfah was effectively kicked out of the house and left alone for the night. Are we kidding?! I kept thinking, “Is nobody going to check on him?”

I understand that Teerak is the more immature of the two and likely needs more support in this scenario, but Dom and Babe were also Fah’s friends. Seeing him cry afterward made me so angry! My poor baby was suffering alone while still having the maturity to check in with his boyfriend to ensure he was okay.

Overall, though, I think the series is good. It features some really delightful scenes (as well as a few steamy ones), and the second and third couples are so wholesome to watch!

Good start, disappointed ending

I was initially excited to watch more dramas featuring JoongDunk because I enjoyed their roles in SIMM. However, I’m sad to say that I felt disappointed by the end.

Firstly, the fight between Zo and Joke after they resolved the stalker storyline felt unnecessary. I would have preferred if they had continued that arc, as the stalker could have created more drama and it would’ve felt more organic, rather than focusing on Zo being upset about his friends setting him up (which is something everyone experiences at some point).

Secondly, did anyone else feel that the relationship was somewhat one-sided? It seemed like Joke put in most of the effort, which honestly put me off. What’s the point of calling it a romance if there’s little to no romance present?

Lastly, I have to admit that I lost interest in the plot after a while. I wasn’t really invested in the story itself; I was mainly there for the JoongDunk scenes, and even those left me feeling somewhat unfulfilled.

Overall, I believe this series had a lot of potential and I did enjoy the beginning. However, by the end, it didn’t meet my expectations.

A total eclipse of the heart

I was pleasantly surprised by this series. I often find high school dramas a bit boring or cringeworthy, so I approach them with some hesitation. However, this one was really good!

I enjoyed the romance and the storyline, which carried a deeper message about fighting against a biased system and struggling under the weight of others' expectations – as well as questioning your entire identity at the prime age of 15 or 16 (lol)

I appreciated that they didn't shy away from showing the darker aspects of giving too much power to young people without the necessary guidance. Issues like bullying, suicide, and violence are often trivialized or glossed over in media that promotes happy endings, so I was pleasantly surprised that GMMTV chose to tackle these topics somewhat seriously.

The chemistry between First and Khaotung was incredible. They conveyed a wide range of emotions beautifully – everything from frustration to vulnerability, and from hate to love. I was hooked on their dynamic from the very start.

Although the plot does become a bit convoluted once the characters get together, and I had to scramble to get back on track, I found it didn’t detract from my experience. Maybe it was because I was so hopeful for a happy ending for these characters.

Overall, I highly recommend this series!

Countryside enemies to lovers

This drama was sweet but dragged a bit, especially in the beginning. With only eight episodes, I expected the pacing to be quicker. The fight in the third act also felt unnecessary, particularly because, after everything the characters had been through, it seemed pointless for it to happen.

I wasn’t a fan of the male lead, Khuafah. While I understand he was supposedly heartbroken, that doesn’t excuse his rude and snobbish behaviour towards everyone, including his friends.

On the positive side, I think this drama handled the enemies-to-lovers trope quite well. It wasn’t overly dramatic, and instead, it simply brought together two people with different aspirations and personalities, allowing them to gradually fall in love.

So, in the end, I thought it was a cute short drama that helped to pass the time.

A multi-verse love story

This story was adorable. I found the multi-verse aspect of the plot to be well executed, and the chemistry between the characters was good as well. JimmySea are truly a gem!

While the action was a bit slow, it wasn’t slow enough to feel boring. The characters took their time to discover themselves and their surroundings, which added to the charm of the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Sometimes, a feel-good, simple love story is all you need to brighten your day. Vice Versa provided that – it struck the perfect balance, neither too much nor too little. Just enough!

Small-town > Big-city rom-com with a twist

This was… entertaining, for lack of a better word.

The trope of “buying affection with money” wasn’t my favourite – I didn’t particularly like how Rak and Mut started their relationship, even though I understand the reasons behind it for both characters. Additionally, I felt the continuation of their relationship after they returned to the mainland lacked depth.

Fort and Peat have incredible chemistry, which really carries the show, but I felt the plot was somewhat lacking. There was no real sense of direction; it seemed like the characters were just going through the motions without a clear goal in sight. As a result, some intense scenes fell flat for me because I kept asking myself, “What’s the point of this?”

Vie and Muk were fun to watch, but I was disappointed by their limited development. Their romance was cute and held a lot of potential, but it ended up being so secondary that it felt almost forgotten.

The BossNoel cameo made me giggle. I wish they had performed more as themselves rather than as characters, but I was still happy to see them.

Overall, while this wasn’t the best I’ve ever watched, it wasn’t bad either. If you enjoy intimate scenes, red-flag characters, and trauma-based romance, then you might find this drama very enjoyable. However, if you’re looking for strong plotlines or romance, you might be disappointed.

Cutest slice-of-life I’ve ever watched

I had a really great time watching this series. I will probably watch it again just for the happy feelings it gave me during my first viewing.

The premise isn't anything new; we follow four couples over 16 long episodes as they navigate the challenges of university and first loves. While the pace is slow, cheesy, and somewhat plotless, it is incredibly easy to watch and truly adorable.

The best aspect of this drama, by far, was the depiction of friendship. The couples have their cute moments, but it was the group's antics that brought me the most joy.

Overall, this was a fun experience. It drags and it might seem boring at times, but if you’re happy to stay here for the vibes (and not for the romance) then you will likely enjoy it!

Fun ride

This was my first live-action Omegaverse, and I was very curious about how it would be portrayed. I wasn't disappointed; this drama features an interesting plot, great characters, and an exciting backdrop of car racing, family drama, and Omegaverse-related antics.

I found Charlie and Babe to have good chemistry. Their relationship showcased a whirlwind romance filled with chaos, rapid development with a slightly worrisome co-dependency, alongside a deeper, more serious connection.

The secondary couple, Alan and Jeff, completely captured my heart throughout the drama. Their slow burn, awkwardness, and yearning kept me hooked until the very end.

Way's character was an intriguing addition. I typically don't enjoy love triangles, but this one resonated with me. Way's attitude toward Babe and his relationships felt very human, even if it was ultimately quite toxic. By the end, I found myself feeling genuinely sorry for him.

Overall, I had a blast! I'm excited about season 2, although it might take me a while to get to it.
