Sorry, it's not in the film, I can't think why I thought it was part of it... "the yellow dragon awards" was, of course, from the esteemed and legendary KBS classic Beauty and Mr Romantic! Nothing in common at all, except maybe I was watching it at around the same time. So you can ignore that part, my bad, I'm an idiot

Title Love in the Big City Spoiler
I still can’t find the movie. even on Viki. I’m in the UK…
Here's how it's done, I tell you this because I support this film and its director and it's really annoying that distribution is curtailed. Get a VPN subscription (Nordvpn works for most sites worldwide, its IP addresses are less detectable, but if you have ExpressVpn or any other, they should all work) connect via USA, then open viki.com in your web browser. You can rent the film for $4.99 no need for subscription. If you have a Viki account in the uk, it *might* try to say you're not situated in the states - in that case, open viki.com in an incognito window and create a new account, I don't use Viki these days because their subtitlers ruin films and dramas. None of this is illegal. However, sites like Viki try to stop it recently to pander to copyright/distribution holders, no need to let them know about it.

having a gay character makes a film woke? does it bother you that some movies might speak about minorities? You…
Noted, thanks. We're also discussing the same topic you raised, whether it's woke or not. You probably had a version of the page opened before our replies appeared... if you refresh, the whole conversation will come up, which will add sense to what Mephisto said.

We're all talking publicly, it's not a place to pick and choose, that would be rude.

It wasn't a joke, it's in the film... did you really watch it? What did you think I meant?

No it isn't woke. Woke is where a gay character is inserted to make a point, tick a box, etc. which is probably also insulting to most of the gay audience. This is about a man trying to navigate his life, a proper narrative. If you're gay, how did you perceive it, was it successful in its portrayal? Btw there are multiple gay characters in the film, as you know, side issue.

Did the writer already watch Bogota: City of the Lost?? It hasn't even come out yet so I don't know why it's on…
Yes, it's virtually a 2025 film for all bar the few

Yes, it was bold. I'm predicting it to get some recognition at the Blue Dragon awards (the Yellow Dragon awards 🤭) as bold movies by top directors often do. I am a fan of Lee Eon-hee since Missing, and she did an interview after her film was screened in London this year which I thought was great of her.

I hear you, I was agreeing in a far too roundabout way!
P.s. the director also said she wanted to sell more tickets to the film - that's partly (mainly?) why the trailer and ads were disguised. She knows Korea better than me, I know nothing, but in showing only typical scenes in the trailer, it missed out on the essence of what was great about it. It was a tough sell apparently.

What an odd thing to say.... So race fetishizing is your thing? 💀 This comment gave me the ICKKKK 🤢Ppl like…
I didn't say that, you're projecting.
You're racist.
You're a narcissist.
You're a virtue signaller.
I don't think much of you and rolled my eyes when I saw you'd posted yet another reply. Go and find a friend someplace else and stay away from families with children, you're not the right sort of person to be around them.

They are. This leads back to Lady Ok. It's starting off on a clear good Vs evil narrative, like night and day, there's no way the audience cannot be on the side of the poor minorities. This is how the woke movement took hold in the US and Europe, by portraying clear cut right and wrong... From there it takes hold and gets more and more insidious and we arrived at 2024. So Korea is slowly being indoctrinated...
This movie isn't part of any indoctrination attempts, it wasn't on the director's mind at all.

"Mission Cross" was a decent watch, and the stellar cast made it more worth watching. "Handsome Guys" was absolutely…
Officer Black Belt turned into stabbing porn, it was toned unevenly, transitioning from one style to another in a clumsy way. As such, it's a badly constructed film, so no place in any top 20.

This list gained my trust for not riding the woke train including "Love in the Big City" just to please the virtue…
I don't think it was a woke film, I really liked it. It wasn't preachy, political, pushing a message etc. It was a proper story written from the ground up - I try not to let my dislike of wokeness turn into homophobia.

This is different to, say, Lady Ok which is clearly instigating an agenda - that's another topic though, it takes some explaining what they're up to behind the scenes.

Alienoid 2 (and 1) were art movies dressed up as sci-fi. The first one was better, neither was great, a little bit pompous and self-indulgent.

You're marginalised. In what way?
You're a racist for sure, read what you just wrote.
"has been tarnished by white people who are afraid of their own shadow called accountability."
If a white person said the same they'd get imprisoned. Why should you get away with it - because you're marginalised?
