But how is he meant to make his bold vision witbout money? Great that you're so idealistic, but it's not realistic.…
He has a good track record, he's lucky enough to be in a position not to sell his ideas, work and soul to an incompetent studio like Disney that *only* cares about money, it has no artistic integrity. I predict that The Tyrant will exhibit deficiencies associated with Disney and won't be good.
I know everyone has their own tastes but I'd actually say the webtoon is a masterpiece. It'd be a shame to miss…
That's part of why I don't like them. Producers fear upsetting loyal webtoon followers as if it's a cult. I believe motion picture adaptations should be at liberty to change what they see fit, the written page never transfers well without adaptation - it contains thought and static framing, whereas film has a much larger surface visual and audio surface.
Just curious, has Son Ye Jin retired from acting? I know she had a kid and all, but it's been more than 2 years…
Same goes for Hyun Bin, I guess they're happy doing their own thing for now. And everything they do goes under the microscope now, so must cause some trepidation and makes it hard to pick good projects. She was brilliant in 39 but it wasn't a great series, it felt forced. Delicious Proposal's just been added to Kocowa, if interested - you have to get used to the square picture and the vibe, it's quite fun to watch old dramas.
The photo above. Looks like she's really struggling to pull off that smile. Concentrating too much on getting the little gap just right where we can see her teeth. Was it Son Ye-jin that popularised that smile? Well she did it naturally, it's hers, she looked cute and still does. Now everyone tries to do it, sometimes unsuccessfully.
Disney's creativity boils down to this - this is what it contributes to a project, boardroom idiots:
"Originally planned as a film, The Tyrant was turned into a four-part series during the production stage to..." ... try to get subscribers for its failing streaming platform. Not what it says in the article.
『Director Park Hoon Jung expressed, "I thought Disney+ was the best platform to present The Tyrant, as they respect the originality of the work and take bold steps."』
🤢 (Cough) seriously?!🤦♂️ They gave him money, I respect him less for saying this. It's in his contract to mention them, how vulgar and desperate Disney has become.
I really liked Kim Seon-ho in The Childe, he carved out an original character and portrayed him with gusto and charisma - looking forward to seeing what he does next. The Witch Subversion is also one of the best films I've seen. Alas The Tyrant is on Disney, I'll leave it then. 🤗
I guess a setting without mobile phones takes away the device that can ruin most plots a writer can imagine. But these are a turn off for me: 1935 and webtoon.
eh I honestly thought that was a PR stunt relationship for promotion of their drama together
Thanks for no quotes. Some people use *this* for emphasis. In some text based sites (or apps like WhatsApp) this would format as bold text, but just having the asterisks is kind of emphatic, so the syntax found a life of its own.
Yes, you missed something. There were subtle reactions by the FL to various things Kiwan said and did. You missed…
Ever just gone about your day and come across someone you fancied? It wouldn't take much to light the fire. Imagine a very cold, strange land - and that person offers a glimmer of warmth and salvation. In their case a deeper connection formed too.
I'm sorry but I had a hard time taking the plot seriously. On one hand, we have a ML experiencing very real struggles…
Yes, you missed something. There were subtle reactions by the FL to various things Kiwan said and did. You missed those. Then you comment on here from a high position, despite missing the subtleties.

Hope this is good, last drama wasn't
Disney?
I'll leave it then 🤗

So, no, not interested.
