That's actually exactly what i thought, XCH had more chemistry with YRY that he had with QL, and LWJ had basically no chemistry with YRY. I actually see them more as just really good friends or even sworn brothers/sisters, but no more than that.

And yeah I would've definitely enjoyed having more scenes with WX in it. I liked the court arc a lot actually, it was gonna happen at some point, and I thought it was done really well. I did wish we had a bit of time left at the end to see snippets of their new wulin life, but I guess they ran out of time

Not a cliffhang definitely, it actually probably has one of the most well-timed and clean ending ever

Realised I had never rated or commented on this so here I am. Watched this the year it aired, and honestly it changed my mind. Need I say more, this series is an absolute masterpiece and contributed to paving the way for cdramas with higher quality. It's been nearly 5 years, and I'm still as much a fan of WangXian as I was before, except I'm also as addicted to MXTX's other works.

If there was romance, I honestly won't be surprised given that in Blood of Youth (the sequel) the older generation literally had lots of complicated romance stuff happening, and they even started wars cuz of it

Mysterious Lotus Casebook didn't even have romance, the only tiny bit happened in his past, romance was barely there. I wish I could say the same about Blood of Youth, but it wasn't that bad either. Romance was only about 2% of the series, and that's good enough, what they did really badly was that the couples seem very forced. I would appreciate the 2% more if they actually had chemistry
