About XJF's character, I genuinely just don't understand him up till the end. I've always thought him simply as a greedy person capable of betraying his country for power. But it seems he used to be an incredibly patriotic and trusted advisor, was it merely the power and wealth that got to him which made him power-hungry? Why did he seem genuinely adamant in believing what he did was for the good of the country, he even made a whole grand speech in front of the emperor just before being imprisoned? Were those all lies, or was he simply deluding himself into thinking he's in the right?

Loved your review ahahahha, something about this drama just made me so addicted to such an unexpected extent that I even gave it a 9+ which is so rare for me. It may be that their chemistry reminded me of WangXian, the way we have an iceberg falling for someone talkative and shameless, and how they're not afraid to speak out against immorality. I also absolutely love FL to bits, she truly is a unique character in cdramaland.

Some things definitely could be better fleshed out, but I didn't think there was anything in particular I thought was lacking from this series. Truly an unexpected gem.

I actually initially couldn't see past her super girlish cross-dressing, but it grew on me and I like that she genuinely was able to carry herself like a 'male general', albeit just a more petite one

Aw shucks, for the first time I thought we wouldn't be getting another cuckoo crazy SML who ignores FL's wishes and tries to force FL into marrying them .. but it actually is quite true to his character.

Also damn emperor arghhhh I was rooting for you the entire series, but I guess he is the emperor after all
