Agree! The most lovely for me was the finger-to-finger bit between GemFourth from upper to lower bunks.I do wish…
I don't think he's the serpent or if there's any reference to it. I see Barth and Tanrak as Adam and Eve in the garden before they were expelled, and Tanrak didn't eat the apple, iirc. It was like their sanctuary, so tranquil in their own world.

Yes. But i like the subtle references to the garden of eden and the book of genesis.

On My Grandpa Is a BL Writer 13 days ago
Honestly the series deserves more recognition. The writing is so well done. People who come here expecting romance, well, don't quit too early, however the main focus is the family. I actually enjoy the family dynamics and each character is wholesome. The path ahead is steep yet I'm rooting for all of them. Can't wait for the next episode!

it's bl??? please tell me i need to watchhh thisss
Well, not really? The focus is on the family working together to save their orphanage. But, there's a gay side character and he likes Save, the grandson.

The people complaining won't admit it, but this is exactly what's happening here. The BL fetishists were expecting…
Please don't generalize everyone who likes BLs. While there may be people who like it for the eye candy, or for some other reasons, there are also people who want to see two men in love without it being subtle, or having to rely on subtext. Soul Mate is clearly not that. Also this did they or did they not is so old fashioned. Whats wrong with physical intimacy? Its really common for people irl to express their love through that. And you're maybe not familiar with the director's other work. He's done the same formula before, and I really wonder what is it the director is trying to say?

I can't believe you just wrote that the masterful, and clearly gay af, film "Night Flight" is a bromance,…
Well, i remember its one sided love cuz one of the characters is straight af and the main lead and his crush didn't really end up together. Gay as in the main lead is gay, and unapologetic about it too. Whereas Soul Mate is, well, idk what its trying to be.

People need to stop defending this show β€œif you want kissing, it’s not for you.” It’s NOT about the physical…
Yeah, thats mainly what got me so hyped. Because they said it was BL, lol. Kinda disappointed, but still glad i was able to watch it.

I might rewatch it. I think there's a recurrent theme here that i find in the director's other work and i struggle trying to guess what he's trying to convey. If you can't guess, go check out his other series: More Than Words.

As whether it's a BL or bromance, i think its up to interpretation. In the finale, both Ryu and Johan said "I love you" but I'm not sure if it's in a romantic sense, but is it common for friends to say that to each other? I'm not sure lol, maybe i should broaden my horizons. Another thing that interested me is the gay side characters. Ep 1 began with a teen arguing with his father. Arata confessing his feelings for Ryu, though i guess we would never find out what happened to him. Lastly, the bar owner. All of them left an impact on our main leads. To me, it's a bromance with gay characters. But they can't be reduced to "just friends". I think what they had is deeper than friendship but not quite romantic as we know it.

That doesn't mean it's bad. I had expected more, and i waited for this series for a long time. But that's on me i guess.

The only bromance that i quite enjoyed watching is Night Flight, a 2014 gay korean movie. Desire and friendship are handled more delicately in that movie.

its not the untamed era that you have to do bromance because of gov nowadays even China have better bls
Agreed, but i don't think it was their intention to begin with. I knew it since they cast Ok Taecyeon like it was too good to be true lmao. But then again, its probably my bad for expecting more. Kinda hoped it could be another Love in the Big City, at least. Oh, well.
