One of the best shows ever
I absolutely love this show. I have watched it 3 times already, and know I will probably rewatch it in the future. The music in this show is incredible, and I sometimes even listen to the soundtrack while driving. This show does a great job balancing humor, drama, and mystery. It also displays things in an appropriate manner that lots of dramas tend to steer away from, or make into jokes, such as Santa's selective mutism, or Gun Wook's sexuality. They are things that are shown, and part of who they are, but are not the defining characteristics of these characters. It treats these characteristics with respect, where as other shows have turned them into jokes (I'm looking at you, Strong Woman Bo Dong Soon!) This is also a show that has an original artistic element to it. The scenes played out in Koo Kyung-Yi's mind as theater productions really helped to keep the story on track, and made it easier to follow for me, almost like a recap of the chaos that had taken place. Overall Inspector Koo is an amazing show, that is unique, artistic, funny, and serious all at once.Was this review helpful to you?
Great group of people, great food, great content, but
If I hear theose same songs one more time..... The other Youn's Kitchen, Youn's Stay and Jinny's Kitchen all had diverse (sometimes absolutely unhinged, in the best way) music, but this season seemed to just play the same couple songs. Over. And over. And over..... Otherwise I loved it. The cast has such great chemistry, and the food looks amazing. The bits where they show them at home are sweet, and the location is beautiful (although we do get a few too many sweeping montages with those same two songs.....)Was this review helpful to you?
Favorite so Far
So far this is my favorite of this series. The dynamics between the cast are great, and the interactions with the guests are great. The music they chose...some interesting choices were made in that department. The music is so chaotic in the best way. I really do not think they actually listened to some of the lyrics and I love it. Everything from Let It Go from Frozen to Lizzo has been played in the background, and I am only on the 3rd episode. Overall it is a very sweet and wholesome show with plenty of funny moments and a slight chaotic touch in the background.Was this review helpful to you?
Weird in all the right ways
When I initally saw that The School Nurse Files was only rated 7.2 I was shocked. It is so good and so weird. It is probably the most bizzare thing I have ever watched, but in a good way. It is quirky, weird, and different. The pacing is different, and overall watching it feels different than any other show. Almost like watching a movie. When I read the reviews I can now see why some people are not big fans of it, not everyone loves the quirky, weird, almost unsettling feel it can have, but the 7.2 still surprises me. It really feels very uncanny-valley, but in a great way. If you are into anything odd, it is so worth a watch. Since watching I have struggled to find something that has the same weird, unexplainable vibe that this drama has. It is one of my all time favorites, and im honestly not entirly sure why. I know a lot of people found it slow or boring, but the pace and subtle details are some of the best things about it. I have rewatched it multiple times and notice something new each time. Still not sure what the ducks are though... All of the characters in this show are a little bit off. The best way I can describe it is if they were on a planet just like earth, but not earth. Like they are just a little different in their mannerisms. They dont seem 100% human. On top of the weird factor, I loved the cinematography and the graphis in it. Lots of the jellies were so beautiful or creepy, some of them being both. The only thing I would change would be the amount of episodes. I really think they could have added more in and extended the series. The end is kindof rushed in my opinion. I doubt there will be a season 2, but I really hope I'm wrong.Was this review helpful to you?
Weird, but in a good way
I decided to give this show a shot die to its obvious similarities to one of my favorite dramas The School Nurse Files. I have only watched one episode so far, and as expected, its weird. But I like that. The characters do seem more normal and human than in The School Nurse Files (check out my review for that one to see what I mean), but it still has a similar unsetteling atmosphere. Im excited to keep watching, and will update my review in a couple days when I'm done binging it! I wasnt sure about Netflix making dramas, but if this one is as good as im expecting it to be, i cant wait to see what they do next. We need more straight up weird dramas.Update: after some thorough binging I have finished the show. It reallu took a huge turn about halfway though, without giving much information, it went from a The School Nurse Files vibe to a Save Me vibe. The humor let up in the later episodes, which is not surprising. I do wish it had kept that weirdness going, and involved more of the alien aspect, but it was still a good watch. Definitely worth giving a shot if you are into any sort of cult stories or aliens/scifi.
