target audience is me
I am clearly the target audience for this and I didn’t know it.who would have thought we’d get an adorable penguin themed BL? not me but I’m here for it.
maybe it’s the right timing or what not but this is a super sweet, silly, absolutely ridiculous series and I love it. I had the biggest grin on my face watching it.
sometimes we just need something that lets us shut off our bains and enjoy.
I also gotta give it to wetv they are stepping up their game in their productions this year, knock knock boys, monster next door, and now caged again. my hats off to you.
as for the series we’ve got some mystery and magical moments that intrigue me and I’m curious to watch it all play out. I’ve not come across a theme like this before and it’s pulled me in even though I didn’t think id be a fan of they type of series.
casting was fantastic in this. Jay does a phenomenal job at being a penguin.
I’m seated. I’m excited. and I want more.

I’m seated.
sometimes you just forget what good quality is when it comes to Thai BL shows. I’m not trying to knock other shows, and of course there are some great quality Thai BLs out there. But sometimes everything just falls into place in a way you weren’t expecting.so, I’m not one to write reviews before a series is over; however, Jack & Joker knocked my socks off. not just with storyline, but quality as well. in the first episode we are getting back stories of the MCs… or shall I say their villain origin stories and honestly I. AM. HERE. FOR. It. I might be the problem, but I love a good red flag, anti hero story and even though we are only just starting this journey I believe that’s what we are going to get.
I’m seated. this to me is KinnPorsche level quality, and I am foaming at the mouth wanting more.
oh Joker, the anti hero we didn’t know we wanted has becoming something we need.
I can already see this being my top Thai BL of the year which is wild since I didn’t think anything would dethrone my stand in, yet here we are.

Refreshing and interesting
There is something so unbelievably refreshing about this series and I am loving it.okay, to get it out of the way I have fallen in love with the two MCs Shogun and First. I cannot tell you why, but they just remind me of adorable little penguins that I want to keep in my pocket at all times. plus their chemistry is better than half of the shows I’ve seen lately. And I’m genuinely liking them on social media as well. They seem pretty genuine, and I adore that they’re also supporting other actors that don’t work for the same company as them. So they get points for being an overall outstanding supportive team player. But, no for real for some reason, they remind me of adorable little penguins that I can’t get enough of.
As for the series, so much has gone into this to make it a success. From the standpoint of the aerial performances alone, it’s pretty mind blowing, and you honestly, have to give them props for that. it’s also falls more into the fast paced timing which is nice since it’s cutting down on the unneeded filler scenes.
10/10 for the adorable little penguins
now that it’s over I still feel the same. this was a great refresher BL

amazing
this was an amazing special episode for the “You are Mine” series.it was so dang cute and I’m pretty sure I now have a toothache with how sweet this was. I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time.
I’d been looking forward to the special for months once I found out they were doing them for the series and I was not disappointed.
I adore we got to see their relationship progress, and it aligned so well with the story.
my heart is so full. if you loved the series you will for sure also love this added episode. I just want more of their story, this was so unbelievably loving an so well done. the perfect end to their story ❤️❤️❤️

I didnt know what I was expecting
honestly I went into this not knowing what to expect but pure comedy gold was not it. is it absolutely ridiculous? yes. yes it is. but I think that’s what I like about it. sometimes we just need that over the top, sometimes cringy, ridiculous, and sweet stories to remind us to not be so serious and just enjoy it for what it is.also, I love that we are getting representation of the disability community, and so far it seems like it’s done well. plus it is already pulled an assortment of feelings out of me so I’m eager to see what else this series will bring.
I also really liked the MCs there is something different about them that pulls me in. sure we’ve got some of the rich spoiled kid, but he went deeper than that in my opinion. he wasn’t totally helpless. I also enjoy that we don’t have the” whoa is me” stereotype that we sometimes get with a character who has a disability. instead he’s pretty badass and strands up for himself and others. 10/10 for the relationship between him and his parents.
truly, I had no idea what to expect when I started this but I’m here for what is sure to be a wild ride. we really are blessed in 2024 with some amazing BLs and I don’t think this one will disappoint.

the ending?
I’ve got some mixed feelings if I’m being honest. at first the sound effects annoyed me, it honestly didn’t feel like I was watching a KBL, more like a Thai BL. fortunately, they died down a lot as the series went on.this is a very simple, sweet, story which we all need at times. there isn’t a lot of depth and there are a lot of plot holes still left… however I did enjoy it… well up until the last 2 mins. I had no idea this was going to end on such a cliffhanger. BUT with that being said, because of the cliffhanger I’m wondering if we’ll get more episodes that will fill in some of the missing bits.
I do have to note it was really weird for it to be a university campus and there were no students anywhere in the background. it gave the whole things a weird vibe, but if you can look past that, I think overall it was a decent watch. especially if you’re looking for something light, some good kissing, and a handsome cast.

an advertisement with some bromance thrown in.
This series had so much potential but instead we got a huge advertisement with a little bromance thrown in. For me, the worst part is abandoning what made the love mix up so charming in its original source material. This version removed the chaotic humor that my love mix up needs. It’s sad because fourth is a naturally funny person and I was thrilled to get him in this cast because I’d believed he would have brought what this role needed. Instead he bland, his “funny” moment weren’t even funny and it all get more like a bromance. I was really looking forward to this drama, I stuck through it and watched every single week hoping for a glimpse of what was in the beloved source material. I’ve also never seen a show that had THIS much advertising in it. It really seemed like that was their only goal and because of that the series plot suffered. Was this review helpful to you?
adorable and heartwarming
overall this was an adorable movie that showed us a the anxiety and determination that comes with liking someone and attempting to date them.I really was pleastly surprised with this one. there isn’t a lot of angst, it’s more the struggle of getting to that first step. both MCs were great and you could really feel how they both wanted to progress but were nervous. and I LOVED the co-worker. she was their number one supporter, and girl, same.
this is honestly a heartwarming, wonderful, story.

still adorable little penguins
this is not a traditional special episode so keep that in mind when going to watch this.okay, so l'm a little biased because I truly love these characters and I feel like they brought a fresh new style to BL. when I heard there was a special episode I was over the moon.
I will say I LOVE that we got a different perspective of their love story told through Wela’s eyes. I enjoyed seeing things for Wela's side. to be honest, that actually made the story stronger in my opinion.
do I wish we got more new scenes? yes. yes I do. am I upset we got this kinda retelling? no not at all. this isn't a special episode in the sense of a traditional special episode, instead I feel like this made the overall plot of Deep Night stronger and kinda tied up SOME loose ends.
I will say reshowing all the NCs scenes made me chuckle. what can they say? they know their audience well. plus they pretty much made their own edit, so others don't have to 🤣🤣
I still wish we got more for the truple, it still feels like all the other side couples more or less got pushed aside.
that all being said I still really enjoyed this surprise special episode for what it is: which is the story of deep night told in Wela’s perspective.
I will still give huge props to the fact they learned all the aerial skills for this show. plus to me these two have the energy of two adorable little penguins that I want to keep in my pocket. I really hope we will see them in another series together. ❤️

they missed what made addicted, addicted.
I really stuck through and watched each week trying my hardest to disconnect the source material from the series(I even got the early episodes from WeTv). but in the end it was impossible to do.the point of addicted was how “addicted” the two main leads were for each other. they were toxic to a fault but their bond they had was indescribable. they wouldn’t only let the world burn for the other, they would gladly lite the match— and that is what we were missing in this adaptation. we didn’t get the fiery passion that the addicted novels needs. that’s the whole point of the books.
I will say I am glad the production took care of Mac and had no kissing or NC scenes since he is underage. It was the right thing to do, however, in casting someone underage it made them restricted in how they could portray this story and certain elements of it so we lose parts of plot that made addicted — well addicted.
if you are comparing this to the source material, the original addicted, or Stay with me, you more than likely will be disappointed. not to mething we once again are left without a season 2. however, if you’ve never see the others or are REALLY good at compartmentalization you might enjoy this. if you removed the addicted elements you’re getting a sweet love story between to young guys.
I would be amiss to not mention how I think this story could have been saved even removing the addicted elements, if the editing wasn’t atrocious. there were so many times it’s made zero sense. between the cut and uncut, the pieces they cut were needed to understand the plot better. it was very disjointed at times.
not to mention there were FAR too many times we didn’t get subtitles. it was a crapshoot if we’re get them each week or not. which made my excitement for the following week dwindle more and more.
overall, I don’t think we’ll ever get a proper adaptation of the addicted books. and I’m pretty sure they should stop trying. especially, if they cannot guarantee we get a second season or the whole adaptation be in one season. I will note I appreciated how this version handled the more upsetting scenes that were in the books.
I will say I don’t think this is the fault of the actors. yes Mac is underage but I don’t think he is a bad actor and August played his character decently with guidance of the director. I’ve seen far worse acting in Thai dramas. I truly believe this was a misstep from day one by the director and production team.
oh addicted, no one can ever live up to how truly unhinged you are and I hope unless we can get a proper casting/ company to produce it they stop trying. you deserve better and so do the fans of the books.

it’s so unserious
edit because of episode 7. I’ve lowered my rating because what the heck. consent is a big deal and “we are boyfriends” is not an excuse when the other is unconsciousI seldom write reviews before a series is over but I’m dying laughing here.
this is going to be one of the most unserious series out there and I kinda love it. The Christmas music in the background has me dying.
and come on Thaiwlight like twilight… this is going to be loads of fun and I’m here for it. it’s a nice departure from leeFranks more heavy roles.
so far I’m enjoying everyone in the cast and have a huge smile on my face with how silly this is. and the cgi element is way better than i expected.

unserious over the top funny
I knew going in this was going to be a comedy, but this is so over the top and ridiculous. and that kinda makes me love it.this is a HUGE production and it has sooo many gmm actors we are used to. it’s weird seeing so many together. but so far, it’s pretty simple to follow.
to be honest, although I do love the other ships I am mainly here for PerthSanta now and even though this has only just begun I already love them. Santa brings a fun, childlike energy to the mix and he compliments Book so well. I am really excited to see more of their interactions as this progresses.
I will say I do think forcebook are a little old to be playing in a school series. their energy just screams older. especially when book was in the high school outfit in the beginning. however, this series isn’t meant to be earth shattering. it’s meant to be a fun unserious series so I’m willing to suspend belief and pretend they are younger. same goes for junior and mark.
is this over the top? yes. is it ridiculous? yes. do I think it’s gonna be awesome? also yes.
I’m here for the long haul. let’s goooo!

brought light to a serious matter
although the acting was amateur, the story is good. it’s got a deeper meaning that’s surface level.the girls in this minus the mother were the worst. and I hated that nothing actually happened to the bullies… any of them in the end.
but surprisingly we did get an hea, and you can tell it wasn’t a bromance hea.
I think it’s worth a shot to watch it.
the mom was best in all of this in the end and I’m glad he had someone on his side. well two people.
it really did bother me not one person that bullied him got anything. it was all just forgotten. and I do wish we got to see how he handled everything later on especially at school. did he stay in same school?

specials are better than the main series
I said what I said and I mean it. so far we’ve gotten two special episodes from the VBL series and they have been the perfect button ending to the main series.they are full of fluff, sweet moments, and so far depict what’s happening next in their lives together. we got this with the you are mine special and now again with the vip only special. I wish more series did this because who doesn’t need unbridled fluffy and joy everyone once and a while. I can’t wait for the other two specials now if these two are any indication on how they are going to go.
also I freaking LOVE the you are mine characters in this! I love them so much, it filled my heart with joy to see them again and get even more of their life.
Side note: vip only was my least favorite of the VBL series however this special episode made me like the main series more.

love this change in dynamic
I loved this and thought it was adorable. I really enjoyed the change in dynamic for offgun where off was the one pursuing guns character. it's a nice change of pace.this wasn't ever supposed to be a dramatic angst filled show. instead we got sweetness and some laugh out loud moments. I truly enjoyed this change in dynamic of OffGun. and the OST is chefs kiss. I think I listen to it a few times a week.
if you're looking for a low angst, light, fluffy, show give it a go l don't think you'd be disappointed.
also this was probably they most intense kissing these two have done
