Made the cardinal mistake of starting the moment the drama aired, and now have to endure the agony of waiting for the episodes to drop every day! If there are so many haters here and on XHS / Douyin, why is the heat index so high? I have read the novel and it is...not a quality read. I do think the adaptation so far has been better at adding layers and texture to the characters, which IMO results in a more successful transition to the screen. In any event, the jury is still out - I do like the ML but his scripts have not been great (don't think he has great resources) so I hope this proves to be an exception. Seven Tan can have chemistry with a tree (apart from the xianxia disaster) and seems to (again with the exception of Xiao Yao) make good choices so fingers crossed!
I'm really curious....why is Allen still doing romance drama when he knows he clearly won't put his all into it.…
I get where you are coming from. It feels strange and a little awkward there are so many hugs in this drama as if they’re making up for something. Call it what you will but this is still a costume idol drama after all. And the audience interprets his gazes however they want to - my husband made the comment yesterday that RJL only has one expression in this show in varying degrees of intensity and that it was fortunate the role could be done that way. lol.
I am not a hater - I have this show on an 8 - but I get OP’s point.
first time watching a mini drama and this is quite riveting. Apart from the fact that the title (both Chinese and English) does not have any thing to do with the storyline (unless it underwent major cuts), I find myself looking forward to the daily episode update, even if it’s a miserable 12 min ep a day. Looking forward to the finale.
finished one episode and feeling unsure about it. Will probably pick it up again. I am really liking Song Yi (always do) and Cheng Lei…‘s body (haha) but just feeling a little unsettled by the first ep. Will pick it up after more eps are out but will say I am not surprised by the rating based on just the first ep. for sure the show for me did not start with a bang.
only at ep 23 now but wondering if XJ ever realises HY was the blind lady he gave the last piece of osmanthus candy to. Would really be a fateful realisation if it happens.
just started watching the show - so FL retains memories but not ML. what is the significance of the drop of blood from ML to FL as they fell in the previous life? and the change in the book titles? thanks!!
don’t know about other platforms but express will start on the Chinese version of Youku I think at 550pm China time. I’ve just finished watching ep 1 of the cast variety show and I’m like it a lot more than the episodes I’m watching at the moment!!
Bit confused about the Mombai poison. As the master of shadow works, Jing He clearly has an antidote for its mombai…
she was the only one he ever poisoned. the whole idea was to frame Zhang Yin who had his army of Mobai warriors. That’s why he doesn’t have the antidote - he thought the chifuzi would be enough but it turned out her constitution was unsuitable.
Just saw an interview (trying to get a link to post) where Wu Jinyan said her strongest impression of Liu Xueyi was as Wu Xin (the monk in The Blood of Youth) and when they first filmed CP scenes, she felt ashamed and apologised for violating the shi1 zhu3. As filming went on, she realised how different LXY is as a person and opined that it must have been very tough acting as Wu Xin. It was hilarious!
