This cemented why I love Zhao Lu Si!!

I'm watching this on Netflix in tandem with the C Drama Hidden Love. Part way through it becomes very obvious how amazing Hidden Love is, in contrast to the sub par storyline and acting of King Land drama. I've since dropped King Land. The couple of Hidden Love gives me what I want in a love story...the feel of romance and absolute thrill of watching a couple falling in love and staying in love. Zhao Lu Si hands down is an amazing ( and beautiful) actress. The supporting cast are incredible. If this is the kind of quality C dramas are aiming for then rest assure they are going to overtake k drama in the near future in terms of popularity. I love this 24 episodes length too.

Excellent watch and rewatch!

A string of negative reviews prompt me to add my 2 cents here.

If you are going to write a negative reviews please first make sure that you have your eyes wide open about what genre you think this drama is under. If you huffing and puffing about a time travel story line that doesn't make sense, or a thriller that didn't take off then you should add a disclaimer that you have watched this drama with a different/ wrong expectation. Fangirlverdict might have save you a lot of time if you have read her non spoiler review first: https://thefangirlverdict.com/2024/06/09/review-lovely-runner/

This drama is wonderful and will stay as a favourite for a very long time.

Not what I expected but the story carried enough momentum to keep me entertained. I do wonder if the show could be better with smarter editing. It's like someone just sliced the whole drama in 40 episodes, without putting any importance to the flow of the story nor capitalizing on cliffhangers.

Zhao Lu Si carried the heavy weight in this show. I love watching her scenes. She is a remarkable actress and I think any male lead would just shine next to her. I can't wait for her next drama.

What a mess is a story....

What a mess. I am severely disappointed with this show. I persevered to the end, doubling the speed so I can follow the storyline. After the big reveal in the last episode I immediately could tell that there were far better solutions to the story. It made Xue Wei looks incredibly incompetent.

I do enjoy a good political story but this one just doesn't make sense and poorly executed.

I also don't like Ning Er's character. She was smart in first 10 episodes and somehow lost her common sense towards the end.

Still a strong favourite 18 years later!

A strong story and a fabulous cast transcend time.

I rewatch this drama recently and I'm still blown away by how much I love these characters. I love Go Eun Chan and the actress behind her role. Her acting scenes were spot on. Not many could cry so beautifully and still dressed like a boy.

It's nostalgic and a reminder of a simpler time when mobiles phones and the internet didn't rule our lives.

If you haven't seen this I highly recommend it.

I would have given a higher rating for the main alone. Unfortunately story decided to give almost equal parts to two other side couples whom are significantly less interesting. The editing is awful to the level that made you think you watching a short or vertical drama. Perhaps the episodes were forced to cut short?

The acting carry the show

I have not seen many Chinese drama where the acting calibre and standards are so superb all across the board. The cast, especially Chang Yu, are all so outstanding. I think only Fan Zheng's seems a bit bland.

I struggled to follow the second half of the story - and I think I am still a bit lost in the end lol.

I have been an avid drama watchers for years, and not just Cdrama. Reset certainly blew my previous experience away and made it into the top of my list of favourite drama. To be honest this is not even my usual genre that I usually watch but it has, hands down, beat all my other favourites and set a very high standard to all genres across the board in terms of story arc, scriptwriting, filming and acting. The cast in particular was very well chosen. To act in same scenes repetitively and still being able to capture the nuances and the subtle changes each scenes requires is extraordinary. Kudos to the directors. I've also found myself a favourite actress in the female lead. I'm looking forward to her next project with great anticipation.

Pleasant surprise 10/10

I went into this with mixed feelings. I knew the Hong Sisters' writings can sometimes be a hit and missed but boy when they do deliver there is not doubt it would be a huge winner. This is one of them. I was a bit dubious about the drama after the first four episodes, thinking is this all about pretty people in pretty places with no other substance? However the story started to become significantly more interesting after that powered by superfluous acting skills from the leads. I was utterly mesmerized and entertained. Great watch.

A must watch!

This is so so good right to the very last episode. There was never a dull moment where I felt I needed to skip. The fight scenes were amazing. The storyline line is tight, cohesive and keeps you on an edge. ALL the actors and actresses, not just the main leads were excellent and endearing to me. It gives me feeling of what I have for the characters in Reply 1988. Don't even bother putting this in a watchlist, just press go and watch this now.

This one trumps it all for my favourite romance drama!!!

I have been watching dramas for years. I have become my own expert about my own like and dislikes. It's a strange things to say but after a lot of dramas you tend to come across tropes and storylines that are predictable and no longer hold their charms. Just like a jaded relationship- try your best but sadly it no longer feels special. Romance dramas in particular are difficult. The audience have seen it all and there is nothing new under the sun to like.

But boy I was wrong with this one. It got my attention right from the first 5 minutes and it never wavers right through a freaking 40-episode session. I suddenly have an even wider and newer perspectives about romance and relationships. Something in me has been rekindled. The bar has been set impossibly higher. I feel giddy and delighted. How is it possible that a romance so super clean can have many a scenes that make me blushed like mad? In short, I am in love with drama, and will be so for a long long long time.

Give this drama a go. Just watch the first 10 minutes of it and you will know what I mean. You can thank me later.

Beautiful noona romance

What I like about this drama:
The script
The three girlfriends
Male lead moments of giddiness
Flashbacks of childhood days
The music
Pacing of the story
Moment when both leads are together

Least favourite:
The amount of alcohol drinking
Mr Hua's side of the story. Seems a bit purposeless and much less of interesting filler. I would have much prefer if third girlfriend has her own story.
Lawyer boyfriend story left hanging

Overall one of the best noona romance I've seen so far.

Most amazing eye candy!

I don't usually watch Xianxia. Most that I tried to watch in the past I ended up dropping for various reasons but the cringey factor is high up there in the list. I decided to give this a try and unexpectedly ended up enjoying the whole 40 episodes immensely, for two compelling reasons.

1. Deng Wei. OMG. What an eye candy. Probably 90% why I carry on watching the rest of the drama. He has the most amazing facial features. I never thought a perfect manga-like character exist in real life but I am proven wrong. Deng Wei embodies a Xianxia male lead like he owns it. Chiselled jaw, high nose and the most expressive eyes. There is angle where he doesn't look good. The production obviously adore him because he has the most amazing costume.

2. The story. I am super impressed how well paced this story is. I have to recheck that this is indeed a 40-episodes drama. The story went profoundly deep within the first 10 episodes alone which really surprises me. Most Xianxia I have seen often has cutesy fillers which often detracts from the story. Despite having to skip some scenes I still think the story is well thought out

Riveting. Wish the romance was better explored.

I started watching this without too much expectation and I think this is the best way to approach this drama. The story itself and the acting alone have enough pull to keep you engaged and intrigued right to the very end, which is the strength of the show.

Unfortunately showcasing a romantic partnership was not the priority of the show, which is a shame because the chemistry between the two leads were riveting.

This is my first time watching a short drama such as this and in all honesty I am not sure how to rate it. I found the acting on all sides, especially the main leads are very good. It's. The story is the issue - defies common sense and not coherent. Such a pity because the chemistry between the leads were great.
