Omg same? Watching this just made me realise that it's super important to not trust ratings blindly. I hesitated for a while because I was focusing too much on its rating. I'm soooo glad a give it a try. People have been bashing it, but I just don't get it. Love to see someone else share the same thoughts on this☺️

Title Sold Out on You Spoiler
For everyone hesitating to watch this masterpiece:

I want to start by prefacing that it is extremely important not to trust ratings blindly and let them influence your decision on whether to watch a K-drama or not. Please make your own judgment by giving it a try first. These are words and pieces of advice that I, myself, need to take into account as well.

If you are looking for a light-hearted K-drama after watching heavily plotted shows, go for this one. It genuinely warms your soul and just makes you feel so wholesome. So, if you are seeking something that is healing, this drama is for you.

Upon first impression, I thought that this was merely a rom-com that didn't have any interesting twists to it. However, as soon as I started watching it, that first impression changed completely. It touches on sensitive topics like insomnia, anxiety, childhood neglect, and unresolved issues with a parent. It is done in such a good way that it does not feel overwhelming at all. Watching it definitely makes you feel all of the emotions that the main characters are experiencing. That intense desperation to get better while struggling to achieve it was so well portrayed. It really reminds you how fast things can go wrong without you even noticing it. It is kinda crazy that you can reach a point that is so critical that you wonder how you got there and if you will ever get out of it. That is what this K-drama showed - that excruciating despair.

When I watch a K-drama, I am very much aware that it is fictional and nothing more than that - that is why it is fairly easy to detach yourself from a K-drama, since you know that it isn't real. Yet, when I watched this, I felt genuine panic for the FL, as if she were a real person crying for help. That is how well the actress did in this show. She captured every single emotion of someone who is surviving, not really living.

The male lead was amazing. His character development might be the most noteworthy, in my opinion. You literally see him blossom - transitioning from his cold nature to something much lighter. How he saw himself in her made him want to heal her, when he himself had never actually healed. Little did he know that along the journey of healing her, he would heal himself as well. I loved how much he focused on her and allowed her pain to be acknowledged. Not once did it feel like he was overshadowing her with his past and his own struggles. His interactions with the villagers were so heartwarming and definitely added to the comforting effect of the drama.

I absolutely LOVED the side characters. Every single one of them. I loved all of the other couples and how cute they were. My favorite is definitely the grandma. What a beautiful person she is.

Ye-jin's relationship with her mother was also handled nicely. She got the closure she deserved and was finally able to close the unfinished chapter she had. Most of the FL's personal issues stemmed from her mother, and seeing her get that apology felt like we finally got to see the FL move on with her life without any regrets. It was amazing to see her parents rekindle their bond.

Ye-jin's voice in all of those phone calls was just so vulnerable. Seeing her dissociate while sleepwalking just breaks your heart. But the phone calls are probably one of my favorite parts of the story. Nothing beats how raw they were and just how they pierced through your heart. The male lead listening to her, picking up the phone, and just letting her speak her mind shows how big of a support system he became for her. Protecting and loving her from a distance shows how sincere his love for her was. He waited for her to find out about what happened during those nights and never pressured her to tell him what was going on. When he took her back to the village, it really relieved my heart. I felt like she was in good hands. His mission was to fix her, and he got pretty close to it. She took care of the rest on her own.

She was also great at being there for him. His life took a better turn as soon as she showed up. That dim ambiance in his life became much lighter with her presence. She was his motivation for confronting his past, as he tried not to run away from it but actually face it.

To say the least, this was such a big surprise for me. I didn't expect anything, but here I am, left with nothing but love and admiration for this K-drama.

This drama encapsulates everything. You want to warm your heart for a bit? Give this one a go.

I'm not quite satisfied with how he's handling their situation. Breaking up with her and telling her that he feels suffocated by her was just unnecessary. Ignoring her and giving her the cold shoulder is so stupid - in these moments, that's when communication is key. I get that he, himself, is struggling with guilt and what happened back then, but he's treating her poorly... but I guess he is so caught up in his guilt that he genuinely believes that all of it is his fault, and staying with her and watching how she is taking the blame might also be too hard for him. Him relapsing as well is so upsetting:( Ugh, I hate this for them😭

If you are seeking a drama that has lots of suspense, and plot twists - then unfortunately, I don't think that this one is for you. It's very steady plot-wise. However, we do see the FL's issues take hand and get worser. The scandal that happened previously in her career also gets visited and explained. Her insomnia becomes more severe, and we also get a look into the ML's somewhat mysterious past. But even while of that happens, it isn't overwhelming. The down to earth vibe remains in my opinion.

yess love your in depth review about the things that dam yejin struggles with..personally the reason why i love…
I agree with everything you said. The drama really shows how nasty insomnia is, and what lack of sleep can look like if it isn't treated. So I actually feel like its portrayal of insomnia is pretty realistic. It is my first time watching Won Bin on the screen, and I am just delighted. She may become one of my favorites!

Ep 6 thoughts.
This finally seems to be the climax of her deteriorating condition. Again, it was nothing but heartbreaking to see yet another one of her sleepwalking episodes - this one was severe though. Everything she does seems like a cry for help. It looks like she's finally understood that she's got an issue - she's been denying it all this time. I think that it takes a lot of courage and strength to admit that you need help and actually acknowledge that you are dealing with something far more serious than you think. And she did that. Her breaking down and panicking about how bad it has gotten shows that she - her own self - is shocked by her current condition. "What do I do?" That sentence just pierces through your heart when you are watching someone completely lose themselves and reveal their most fragile state. I just love that he was there for her - it feels like she is finally in good hands, being taken care of by somebody who actually cares about her. Someone who sees her, hears her, and listens to her. I love how protective he is of her - not doing too much and showing his support from a distance shows that he genuinely cares for her. I definitely think that he sees himself in her, and that is why he is so adamant about helping her. The villagers are so darn cute; I love how they are taking care of her.
