Unfortunately, this cast is completely not my piece of cake, so I pass this drama… The novel is a masterpiece, so I just keep rereading it from time to time.

Some ratings of hits on Douban are so strange. For example, I’m a big fan of “The Story of Kunning Palace” which was a big hit of 2023. But on Douban it has only 6.8 rating, which is also not high for such a truly successful and popular drama. So, to be honest, I don’t trust reviews and ratings on Douban at all.

I’m a little bit confused about the rating on Douban. Many people said to me that it is showing the true feelings about dramas of audience from Mainland China. But if it is so, what audience on Weibo? Not Chinese? Only fans of actors? Because the rating of this drama on Weibo is 7.7 with a lot of positive reviews. And I also noticed that when haters of this drama want to make focus that this drama is not successful they always mention the rating on Douban but keep silence about the rating on Weibo.

I don’t know about others, but for me this drama is just perfect. I genuinely think it deserves even higher rating then 8.6.

I also like this story as it is:))) so, I hope, that censorship will change it not so dramatically, and ChenFeiyu will be picked as a main male role! He is just perfect for it❤️

The only way is to rewrite the plot to make it more male centric and to soft Shen Miao character. In the novel she is too ruthless sometimes. But I agree with you that after reading the novel I also have high expectations about the cast and filming:))) I love the novel and currently rereading it.

Looking forward to watching this drama! After WDBTD I became a big fan of Chenfeiyu! He’s a super talented and truly outstanding actor!

My wish is Chenfeiyu to take the main role, but I’m not sure that he will agree because, as you already mentioned it, the script is a female centric. So it should be a very popular actress with less popular ml partner.
