I know what you mean and what’s worst is when they turn soft after they fall in love. I think they did a really good job with this ML though. You see him gradually (very slowly) softening to her but there is an aura to him that can’t be dismissed. Especally when he means business.

I didn’t read the book but basically - 16 years ago someone (ML’s Uncle Wei) betrayed the whole army where ML’s father died. FL’s father (under Wei) knew something about it and went into hiding with his family. Wei tries to hunt FL’s family down and find the evidence (some letters).

I’m up to episode 11 and I’m struggling with the events happening and storyline! There are soooo many characters and I can’t keep up! Whats worst is that some of them look so similar!

I ageee with you. I feel like they are just throwing information and hidden secrets at the audiences left and right. A new character is introduced every 5 minutes so I’m unable to catch up.

Im still watching it but its a shame because the FL and ML are absolutely adorable and their chemistry is amazing!

Her fighting ability doesn’t bother me much but I feel like she’s too rash and not too bright. Time after time she’s charging forward and not thinking about her own safety. I finally had to put the show on pause when she started to oppose the emperor (in front of others) about the Uyghur prince and the princess’s wedding. Like GIRL! no matter how much he dotes on you he’s the emperor and this is a political marriage!

The main thing for me is - the FL in Forbidden Flower isn’t trying too hard to be cute. When an actress or actor is natural, people are immersed in the story. When an actress aegyos too hard it takes me out of a drama.

I agree with you about LYX. She is very pretty and I do like her but she doesn’t have much range to me. On top of that, her action sequences are lacking. Maybe it’s her lack of aura or she doesn’t have any martial arts (or dance) background but it’s just blah. The director should’ve speeded up the frame or something to make her look more fierce.

I feel like Sun Zhenni would’ve been a good choice.

I agree with your points. I also don’t understand why ML was yearning for his “sister” all these years (as the keychain says) - yes, they didn’t see each other for years but the dude took care of her since she was a baby. Surely the their first thought after reuniting couldn’t be romantic love/lust??
