you can really see the inexperience of FL's acting. She's really struggling to pull off complex emotions in a…
Agreed.

It's amusing that the novel's author chose to have Chu Qiao transmigrate into the body of a 7-8-year-old girl (not an already young adult). From there, she spent 2 years serving Zhuge Yue and 8 years (not 4 as in S1) secluded in a mansion with Yan Xun. By around age 18, she had become similar to a general with her own army. Perhaps this is why they decided to make her the female lead? Casting is also a political and monetary process that involves much more than simply being skilled at it.

I saw a recent interview with her in which the age difference (17 vs. 29) was discussed. She said she was initially concerned but, after reading the script, felt comfortable—especially since there were no kissing scenes or physical proximity.

Chun'er is very annoying. I find it hard to sympathize with her.
In the novel, she has a minor role. She was spoiled and not a lovable character.

In my view, the first episode was a disaster. It attempted to resume Season 1 in one episode with fragments/flashbacks and overlooked the emotional chemistry between the FL and the two MLs, making it feel flat.

Is it really that bad?
When similar ratings appear across different platforms, it indicates something—good or bad. 'Pursuit of Jade' is on the top charts, but 'Rebirth' is not, though both are costume dramas, likely appealing to the same audience.

Ohh this is a sequel. That explains why I felt like we were just blitzing through incredibly important context…
For those in the audience who did not watch Season 1 or read the novel, the storyline can be confusing. Personally, I don't think we can fully understand Chu Qiao's love for the two main male characters. In the novel, she loves both of them, albeit in different ways. However, in Season 1, her feelings for Yan Xun are portrayed ambiguously (in the novel, they actually kiss).

When Season 1 ended with no Season 2 in sight, the audience became extremely frustrated because it left without any closure. This led to an explosion of negative reactions, including accusations of plagiarism, which were primarily related to the novel rather than the drama itself.

It's like comparing apples and oranges—both have their merits, but some people prefer one over the other; it ultimately comes down to personal choice. There will always be hardcore fans who cannot accept differing opinions about their favorite shows or actors/actresses.

I believe that watching "Season 1" first allows viewers to better understand why Chu Qiao loved both Yan Xun and Zhuge Yue, even though her feelings for them differ as depicted in the novel. The motivations behind her choices are much clearer in the original story. However, once viewers become attached to the characters, comparisons are inevitable, (apples vs oranges). Many naysayers point out the age gap between the characters (FL 17 when she filmed), while yaysayers tend to overlook it. A few individuals focus on judging the overall quality of the script, as well as the chemistry and acting (I raise my hand here, lol).

Personally, I think they should have redone Season 1 with the same cast, removing the unnecessary empress and princess storylines. In my opinion (again), they should have cast seasoned lead actors. While the current actors are talented individually, they may not have been the best fit for this particular drama (I personally find a lack of chemistry altogether). Again, that’s just my opinion.

NOVEL ONLY: In the novel, during the lake event, Chu Qiao was 20, Yan Xun was 26, and Zhuge Yue was 27. Chu Qiao spent 2 years as a slave with Zhuge Yue, 8 years confined with Yan Xun, and 2 years in YanBei, mostly separated from Yan Xun. This gives perspective on why she was so loyal to Yan Xun. Yan Xun was her first love, but Zhuge Yue was her true love. However, the novel NOT a romance. It is mainly a story of palace and empire struggles, with many battles. After the lake event, Chu Qiao met Yan Xun only once. All main characters survived, and most secondary characters died. *** I am curious how the "rebirth" script will be written. 🤔🙃

Princess agents is one of my favourite dramas. It's one of the earlier dramas I watched when I started watching…
Very good comment, which I support 100%. I personally prefer seasoned actors, and for me, it makes all the difference. Personal choice.

Her mother is an empress, and her real brother is Zhao Song and Zhao Che. She grew up very protected and is very entitled and naïve. She is the only daughter of a long list of sons. Therefore, she is very spoiled. She fell in love with Yan Xun as a teenager and tried to marry him.

She was a victim of rape and sought revenge several times and blamed Chu Qiao out of jealousy. After losing her virginity, her father, the emperor, attempted to arrange a marriage between her and the new emperor, Li Ce. She traveled to his kingdom for negotiations, but the marriage ultimately failed, and she later died a tragic death.

She is portrayed as a character who transforms from an angelic princess to an evil one. As is often the case, dramas are loosely inspired by the novels and rarely adhere strictly to the original story. Most scripts are invented, straying significantly from the novels' narrative. In the novel, she has a minor role although memorable.

Because Princess Agents is so popular in china and other countries. It’s one of the classics. Now that they…
I personally review each drama individually, considering acting skills, chemistry, script, CGI, and more. I disregard age. I do not care that FL was 17 when she played, only her lack of maturity that shows. Her acting is okay, far from memorable, far from enough to keep me hooked... Same with ML, both lack chemistry and emotion. They look like they are reading a script. I always avoid comparing different dramas or actors, since they often involve different scripts and contexts. The same actors can be extraordinary in one drama and terrible in another. In this drama, unfortunately, it is terrible.

In this case, I set the bar too high. The execution feels flat, rushed, with forced chemistry between actors. While each performer does their best individually, the overall result is chaotic. The script is weak, the directing poor, and flashbacks are hurried. Reshoots from the beginning would have helped the audience connect better with the characters and actors. Instead, it feels like they're feeding us food when we're already full.

Very disappointed.

For novel readers..... Is it only me.... I don't remember Chun'er going to Biantang in the novel.... Or am I wrong??
In the novel there are negotiations to marry prince Li Ce who will become emperor after the death of his father (different kingdom). However, the marriage will not happen. I think it is because she was no longer a virgin. Her father (the other emperor) hid this fact. Chu Qiao exposed her and the marriage negotiation failed
She has a minor role in the novel.

I read she took her mother and aunt and toured Europe and is now living there. She posted few comments online. I wish her well.
