I read the novel a bit. And I kinda wished they used the exact storyline. I was watching for the bad boy plot. Like a teen boy(lu xixiao) who's handsome and has countless GFS finds the girl(Zhao Wen)and then when they break up, the girl would've been like "Oh, you thought you played me but guess what, in reality I played you." Typa plot would be interesting. Or they could've made the adult plot longer because I'm really looking forward to it. I hope they won't rush the adult plot though because that would ruin the storyline.
(I was kinda hoping for the ml to be like the ml in speed and love and is in gangs and stuff like rich kid behaviour type stuff)

I feel like I understood the plot every well maybe also because I rewatched a few episodes. The plot was easy to understand but it was basically the mls didn't know the full truth and obviously as viewers we support the mls so we also didn't like Wei Yan because they didn't and considered him the villain which made many people confuse the overall plot as he wasn't the main villain.

Because if the news were to spread that Wei Yan was in a intimate relationship with consort then his entire clan would've been terminated, so the consort decided to push Wei Yan and perish in the fire that way it could be taken that Wei Yan tried to save the imperial family but he was too late and he also killed all the witnesses so that his story would remain hidden. Now Wei Yan was a close friend to crown prince chengde including Tutor Li, Tutor Tao and General Xie (Xie Zheng's father) now when they were gathered for the new year's gathering, Wei Yan, who was very drunk and the emperor has taken his beloved as a concubine so it could be implemented as in the heat of the moment said something like "If the emperor isn't virtuous, the throne should be abdicated and passed to chengde." The people present told him to never mutter those words again but tutor Li betrayed his fellow and told the emperor the truth about what Wei Yan said. That's where the fire was sparked. The emperor made a plan with prince changxin to refuse troops to Wei Qilin (Wei Yan's most trusted subordinate) and Wei Yan on the border of jizhou received a letter by the consort that she's in danger and that he needs to return quickly. Then the emperor's bloodline would've been threatened and the empire would fall. Wei Yan made the previous emperor abdicate the throne and now as for the fire in the eastern palace was also the emperor's scheme. Crown Princess got to knew the emperor's plan hence she sacrificed herself for Qi Min. Qi Min knew all of this truth and wanted revenge on the royal bloodline and reclaim his thrown. I agree with you, they could've made the episodes a tad bit longer so that the flow would be continuous. We definitely needed his reaction towards her nice dress but towards the end of the day, they really did do their best, they had so much to fit in one episode so I get why they cut out some romance scenes..

I'm glad that many people didn't watch the leaks including myself, I was curious and played one episode but the subtitles were so bad that I would rather watch one episode a day rather than ruining my watching experience. The director did fantastic with his details, the screen writer really did his best with the storyline, I really like the plot and the cast and crew did an amazing job with bringing the novel to life. I really liked how they put so much detail to the outfits and sets. I can't believe the drama is ending tomorrow, I have been desperately waiting for this drama since August and it's finally out and I even finished it. Everyone did an amazing job for this show. I am really glad that it's getting the recognition it deserves 💖

Exactly, I can understand that most people and especially teenagers like me can't watch the paid ones on the official websites. The VIP package in my currency is a bit expensive and I don't own a bank account either so I mostly watch from websites but I felt very upset and angry about the pojs leaks. Like, waiting would've been better then knowing the drama is leaked..

Probably an insider selling the episodes to the sites. These leaks are sold are a lot of money especially when a drama is doing good, like in POJs case.

Sometimes, when a drama is doing comparatively good then this is a outcome. I think this also happened a few months back with another drama. I think it was legend of the female general or something. Don't remember the name. But the leaks really impact the heat index but till now Poj has been doing good on the heat index. I just hope this doesn't impact the overall hype of the drama. I would say to watch as they release the episodes on WeTv or Iqiyi because they the leaked subtitles are very bad.
