I finished this drama, I have to say that this is not for those who like romance. Personally, after watching so much romance; I wanted a fresh drama and this one was a great watch especially with the palace intrigues and it gives you a reality glimpse of how the dynasties actually were. Full of nasty politics, lust and injustices. So many people died at the cost of one truth.
I loved Bai Lu's character and the fight scenes were epic. The ML was definitely one in hundreds as many MLs in Cdramas have fighting skills and such but the ML here was shown as scholarly, clear headed and intelligent. I really like that and his advice to FL most of the times. This drama was definitely a fresh one and I liked it. But my favourite character was Wu Ren. She was so cute and smart.

I have a question, I started watching from episode 4. What's the age gap between the ml and FL and what are the ml and fl 15 years before? And what does the ml mean when he talks with his mother that we shouldn't let her remember it?

The other writer is the one who wrote the novel so the novel fans can be reassured that the plot may not be that different. They'll just switch some elements. This looks so promising, I hope everything goes well ❤️‍🩹

I saw that Wang Hongyi will play the crown prince and I can see the resemblance between him and ling he. I really wonder how it'll come together 👀
I'm so excitedddd. I saw the posters and they both look so good. I really really hope it'll be a happy ending like the last 2 projects Zhang Ling He has chosen, all have sad endings so I hope this one will have a happy ending 🥹

As much excited as I am for this drama, the fans are really exaggerating and dragging down both artists on X. Like cmon, Lu Yu Xiao cannot control whatever her manager does nor can Zhang Ling He considering his manager is the one Zhao Lusi also had. Do you really think artists under a contract can criticise their staff or managers? Especially managers that have been on the industry for so long. These managers can sell artist info to stalkers due to artist saying anything to them and there have been many such cases where the artist and manager had a fight and to get back on the artist, the managers sell their information online to get revenge. As rising stars, why would artists risk it? This industry is so shady and one wrong step costs you fortunes to recover so as rising stars, it's better to feign ignorance and act dumb rather than create such a big fuss about it especially with the company. And fans really need to stop thinking that the artists life revolves around them. It's a drama, if you don't support it then don't but don't drag down others reputations and the artist is never gonna be dating you so stop acting like paranoid girlfriends/boyfriends. If you like someone or look up to them then it's better to stay in one's limits and support them instead of bashing them. So many r@pists are working in this industry, if you want to fight for justice over everything then pls bash them and get justice for the victims instead you will support them and not stand up against injustice but when it comes to cast selection then you'll fight like crazy if you actually put that energy into the injustices happening in this world, then maybe we'll actually witness a change.

I just finished watching story of kunning palace and honestly, it beat my expectations. I didn't think I would like this as much as I actually did. Everyone here is exaggerating Zhang Ling He's facial expressions. It isn't as bad as everyone here is claiming it to be. I actually think that his acting was perfect for a complicated character like Xie Wei. This drama definitely exceeded my expectations. It's a must watch and now I need another drama of Bai Lu and Zhang Ling He 😭

The story was perfect. It reminds me of love like the galaxy because of the character identities. I would rate a solid 8.5 out of 10 and after the 20 episodes, I actually started enjoying it more because that's when the chemistry between the FL and ML actually starts to build. Fl's previous life was too messy in my opinion but it showed a real effect on her resurrected life. Tho I do not like resurrection plots, this one wasn't that bad. I did feel very bad for the other two mls 😭😭
I low-key ship the Princess and Yan Lin. They both suit eachother perfectly and as for Zhang Zhe (bro low-key annoyed me til episode 25)

Also another thing I didn't really like was the ending. It felt so rushed, we didn't see a proper wedding, I really wanted to see a proper wedding scene and not to mention the sentences for the Xue family. For a family, so wicked. How could their sentence be so little?
I felt that many elements of the ending were missing or lacking in one way or another.

I don't agree here. I watched this drama when it was airing and this is such a great drama and I have watched none other like this. My top favourite cdrama has been love like the galaxy and then I liked legend of the female general, love between lines and love in the clouds. But for historical after love like the galaxy, no cdrama hit the spot until this one. My family doesn't like Cdramas but even they watched this one and they still rewatch it from time to time. The story had depth, it made sense, it captured the essence of the characters perfectly and nothing seemed too fake other than the dramatic elements. This is that one drama that was executed perfectly in all it's elements and I watched this drama when it was airing and I was anticipating this drama from august and what the audience felt watching this could never be described to people who are watching it now. Even when the last episodes got leaked, we didn't watch and followed the airing schedule, the sentiments me and all other audience watching this felt was so magical, so this drama i truly lived up to its hype and the
rating is well deserved. This drama didn't disappoint one bit.

just a question for those who have read the novel, i was wondering if the reunion extra chapter 182 is actually completed or is it ongoing? the ending feels unfinished…

I know many people here are pissed at the fandom wars and what not especially both actors being threatened by eachother's fans. What we can do is support the cast of ci tang. Let's support Zhang Ling He and Lu Yu Xiao and secure this project. They both will do amazing as the ML and FL. I legit cannot imagine another ML or FL for this drama. I really hope both sides can pull through and make a deal. And let's support both actors, crew and production. What should matter to us fans is whether the script of the drama is good and how well it's directed. We shouldn't dwell on fan wars and ruin other people's careers.

The official cast isn't announced but I really do wish that we can see Zhang Ling He and Lu Yu Xiao but I really hope their won't be disputes between the actors due to their past history. This collab seems impossible but somehow possible if the director ACTUALLY uses his connections 😭

I completely agree with you. Zhang Ling He is one of my favourite actors but his fan base always stirs massive trouble for his co-stars and this is the case with many popular actors/actresses out there. Lu Yu Xiao and Zhang Ling He would be the most perfect couple in this cdrama and the storyline is very intriguing too. Let's just hope the director pulls some strings and pairs them together but the backlash would be heavy as hell considering Zhang Ling He's fandom and Lu Yu Xiao's fandom.. They both have very possessive fandoms in my opinion. But I also think that this drama would be a great success if we can get this drama on netflix. This happened with the pursuit of jade too when the actors were casted. Their was so much backlash but it was also a huge hit internationally and nationally due to netflix being a major sponsor and it was a very anticipated drama too.
