I didn't get bored
First off, please don't compare to pursuit of jade, it's not and it's not trying to be. It's beautiful in its own way.I can't say it's the best production I've ever seen but the characters and relationships in this drama are something. I will say I watched every episode the day of release and then paid for the final 4 episodes so I could complete it. Zhang linghe is great in this. The way he can be intense and intimidating while still being vulnerable is incredible. I can't wait to see what else he does.
I loved the music but did notice small hitches in other parts of the sound production. It can disrupt a bit but it wasn't enough for me to stop watching.
Lighting seemed odd to me at some points, like it had a bright shimmer, what you'd usually see in a dream sequence, memory or something but it's just the main story. I was racking my brain to think why this would be a choice but couldn't figure it out.
The costumes and styling are beautiful.
Having said all that I'm m not sure I'd rush to watch it again.

I really enjoyed it, but...
the actors are really good. the ml is gorgeous. interesting story, complicated relationships, lovely romance (for the most part).but...geez sometimes you just wanna slap the FL. the first half of their series is a beautiful romance, the 2nd half is a melodrama and tortured love story.
the mother is unbelievably controlling. the couples communication at the start is very honest and heartfelt, then the lies start, stupid no reason lies. I get conflict is needed and things can't always be rosey but come on.
anyway even with that frustration I still really enjoyed the show. the actors were really very good!

4th time now
4th time watching and it's just as good as my 1st.This was my introduction to c-dramas. I've watched exactly 3 English shows since may, it's August when I'm writing this. I have to say I'm loving all the c-dramas so far but nothing has yet topped pursuit of jade!!
I've read negative reviews about this show and honestly I don't understand it. Anything below a 7 and they're lying.
I mean does it matter that ai was used for snow??
Does it matter that the actors are all beautiful, if they can act??
I've even read some say the main leads had 0 chemistry? Did they hit they're head or perhaps they're watching a different show.
Anyway, if you like watching beautiful people fall in love in beautiful costumes with beautiful scenery, beautiful cinematography, beautiful music and a beautifully told story of love, deception, political intrigue, war, friendship, sisterly devotion and a touch of revenge you'll love this.

Boring
I never stop a series before the end. But I could not force myself to watch anymore of this show. I cant tell you what's wrong with it specifically just that I found it incredibly boring. It was so terrible for me it's almost put me off all k-dramas. For now I'll just stick to watching some c-dramas 😁Was this review helpful to you?
