I'm on the minority here. The screenwriters made the ML into a sweetheart, unlike in the novel, while they made the FL into a weak, dumb, helpless girl, unlike in the novel. This is one reason why the viewers hate the FL. Other reason is bcos the viewers don't want to understand it from her pov as to why she keeps rejecting him.

Nah there was no promotion nor variety show at all. The PH has some issues so they had no money to promote. Also I read that Liu Xueyi doesn't record variety shows.

Idk which one from 11 screenwriters suggested a "sister" of ML bcos she is an original character exists only to be paired with Wuxia. The novel doesn't really have secondary couples bcos besides ML, other 5 men like FL. The plot twist for Zaiye and Wuxia are far more shocking in the novel as well and no one except Taohua knows.

I don't think we will ever get Meng Ziyi to dub her own characters bcos even though I'm her fan, I think her voice isn't suitable for it.

The main screenwriter is a rookie who wrote 2 drama including this one. Plus another 10 screenwriters who are unknown, possibly amateurs.

This drama didn't flop. In china the heat index reached 26000. It ranked 1st on the first week and maintained on top 3 several times. Liu Xueyi's character reached 100M popularity, while Meng Ziyi's reached 40M. This is an A level investment drama, but the broadcast impact exceeded expectations and went up to S level, which is rare for drama aired in this year. The douban rating is low bcos only 11k people voted and yk douban is mostly filled with idol haters and passersby.

You might not know. On the first day of airing, people on MDL thought this is a harem drama and they voted low scores. So this drama started with 6+ scores. But real viewers voted reasonably that it went up to 8+.

Just bcos the scores went from 8.3 to 8.1 doesn't mean the drama flopped bcos what matters is the data in china, not MDL.

Tbh one reason why the novel is long is bcos the author spent too many chapters to show how the ML seduces FL with poems, cheesy words, etc. I had to skip a lot of chapters bcos of this. But the novel is good and popular in China. A lot of plot twists and engaging characters, especially both leads are the ultimate power couple.
