I was disappointed as well when I saw the name Qingying at booting ceremony cast list. Then I threw away my expectations after they released the character names during the filming wrap up. Bcos so many characters were erased and they added a bunch of original characters. They added a girl just to be paired with Wuxia and this girl is freaking annoying. I don't think the audience like her either.
Some adaptations are loved, but others are hated bcos it deviates too much from the source and creates a nonsense plot, thinking it was a good idea to make a new story.

Tbh although the novel is poorly written, the story is really good. A lot of plot twists and interesting characters. The leads have ups and downs, separations and reunions, and ML even has a lot of love rivals.

Tbh Meng Ziyi's makeup here is different depending on the occasions. For example during the wedding, or when she's at the farm, or when she just stays at the mansion. I always appreciate how drama MUA these few years stay close to the actual makeup during ancient times. The actresses look extra gorgeous ❤

I saw some people were discussing about Meng Ziyi's lips and whether she had lip fillers. On ep 4 and 10, at the scene where Taohua is unconscious and dreaming about her mother, you can see her BARE lips. Her lips are not thick, just normal. Why do her lips look thick? bcos her MUA uses blur lip line or overline lip makeup to make her lips thicker. Women who do makeup surely familiar with it. It's the power of makeup. You can also check her close up pictures and you will see the overline. Even when watching TPG on wetv I can clearly see when she has this makeup and when she doesn't.

ML doesn't have sister in the novel. The drama writer added this character solely to be paired with Wuxia, for romance purpose. Just like you and some others, we hate this sister.

They should've kept Qian Baimei, Xu Yangui, Consort Lan as the way they are. Kept the plot that Wuyin is deeply in love with Taohua or how Wuxia is deeply connected with Taohua. The drama doesn't do justice to Wuxia and Taohua's relationship.
Let's just hope from the middle part is good bcos I believe it will be around the time Taohua leaves Zaiye.
