Title Kill to Love
yeah, agreed, a traditional HE in this story would not be satisfying. Duan lost his mind in one episode, and shown…
If he was a bloodthirsty tyrant he would have killed all the prisonners instead of release them. Words have meaning as much as action. Shuhe and him have both evolve. None of them deserve each other if we just overlook the story and pretend already the end will be bad for both. But Shu He say it he don't know if he lied to him or himself, and Duan admit that everything he made for Shu He finally end up hurting him. So both of them are aware of who they have become. In many toxic relationship, people think that what they are doing is right. Here, it's not the case, they tried to turn the tide. slowly they understand themself. Happy end for relationship depend also of which direction people make their brain and heart goes. if you tend to think there s no hope, then you will not create either the opportunity either the way for it. Duan did not wait for hope, he has gone take it, because Shu He saw no hope for them so he closed himself, unaware of danger around him, full of guilt and grief. While now he start to understand maybe there is more than meet the eyes and get out of his shell. Duan may be over obsessed with Shu He but far from just a tyrant on a throne.

I felt the same, that 3rd person narration + music combo did feel a bit rushed and it definitely took away from…
I agree. It did suprised me but after watched many historical drama I didn't want to watch such long speech and battle scenes before we find them again, dealing with each other x)
they could had made an ellipse and show "years later" but better the way they choose to show us Duan going on rampage for love aha

Duan forcefully taking off ShuHe's royal robes was hella symbolic. He felt that the way ShuHe keeps clinging to…
I don't see it that way. I see it as He knows that Shu he keep clinging to his throne while he don't like it, he fear that life and Duan knows it and hate to feel that fear in him, which chang himself. Remember Duan already says he knows when Shu He lies. But Shu He is scared to admit he failed his kingdom for love, admit he want to be free so he is running away from him because he feel he has to cling to something else to feel safe, so he cling himself to the hate and illusions of a robbed past by power. The fact he pushed him on the throne was very symbolic and pleasant. The performance here was full of meaning. Shu He was worried when Duan coughed. It was quick but full of meaning. Now that Shu he do not have the burden of the robe anymore, maybe he will calm himself and see clearer deep inside him, far away from the feud between kingdoms, just allow himself to feel safe. I don't see Duan say something like Shu He "belong" to him, he would already had say it. He want only him but not possess him. He wants him feel safe with him, and him feel safe with Shu he too. that's why he build a new home for him like the one he has, to go back to this quiet life they had. My... they need a therapist :p
But that's just my opinion ^^

Finally caught up. I wanted to wait all episodes but i'm happy I didn't and at the same time i'm sad to wait now x)
Pretty interresting development and some nice tender scenes. The ost is good too ! We see also improvment in each episode acting. Their love among turmoils is genuine and I realy like that. I'm impatient to see how they will reconnect with each other beyond misunderstandings. Now I hope for a happy ending and not just a typical tragic death for gay couple, even if historical ref is tragic.

He is very different here. I like him more in this tbh. Emotionless generals are not my thing apparently ๐Ÿ˜†
This one is better. At least for a female general.

Drama may not satisfy everyone, but to me it did. Everyone has their own tastes, but if you aren't going to finish…
Yeah the wait was so loong T_T
I do agree with you. I'm not a fan after i finished it,I have my opinion, but anyway it can find it's public. I don't care about the ratings, as you said everyone has it's own taste, and this one fall far mine in terms of female writing character. But for a nice romance, enjoyable with a cup of tea, it's fine. :)
