The story is generic. All the tropes, the wooden acting and constant stiff faces... I don't get how people are enjoying this. Song Hye Kyo should just quit acting and I am not even a hater. She destroys every drama she is in.
The 2-3 first episodes are 10/10 like someone else wrote then it goes downhill fast when all the saeguk politics start, the second half is just so boring tbh. Everyone in this drama is also a terminator who never die no matter how many times they get (deeply) stabbed, they somehow heal right away and keep fighting all the time. Even the staff/writer didn't think it was unrealistic and just too much?
Typical korean drama that starts out strong then goes downhill in the second half. Does it have to be so difficult to make a drama that is good from the first episode to the last one?
Literally disgusting to see this sit at 8.1, what the hell are you guys thinking? This is easily a 8.5 at this point and if the second half is amazing with a good ending it sit at 8.8 at least. Its an an amazing thriller. Maybe the kids in here don't understand it.
What the fk is going on with the ratings like seriously? This should current sit at 8.5-8.7/10. Its the same with Chimera, what the heck is going on with MDL ratings recently?
After Hellbound I am scared... Please don't f*ck up this one like Hellbound. I hope the script is really well written and they don't take it in some weird stupid direction.
I always wonder why people praised this drama so much. The first episode is epic with loads of cool action scenes and even some feels, then it just goes into political conspiracies and aloooot of talking for 95% of the rest of the series, and ends on a stupid cliffhanger when its never getting second season.

Don't underestimate what the korean entertainment industry can do. They can basically for example let an idol get away with rape/murder if they really wanted to... I leave it there.

Instead of trying to tell a good story we get this confusing hot mess that makes absolutely no sense in the end. Its just a bunch of random side-plots mixed together, new characters pop up all the time and others disappear out of nowhere never to show up again. People are waiting for answers in a second season but forget that. Sweet Home was probably on the verge of not getting a second season even though it did crazily well on Netflix and was praised overall, Hellbound is not going to do that well and is already poorly recieved. I can imagine that the merciless korean netizens are busy making fun of it right now. Just forget a second season..
Instead of trying to tell a proper story the director seems to have some kind of fetish with "brutal" assault scenes. I wonder how many they managed to squeeze into this short 6 ep drama? As well as all the repetitive scenes with the ridiculous looking black hulks slaughtering people? Way too many... and don't get me started on the crazy cult leader and his long scenes. The CGI is terrible and made me laugh many times, some parts even looked like Playstation 1 cutscenes - and that could have been TOTALLY fine if they were modest with it. How they showed it off though is like "look at this cool CGI we made we are so awesome, we even dare to show everything in broad daylight because we are so skilled!". Embarrassing.
I wonder if really the genius behind Train to Busan wrote and directed this from first to last episode? Not a ghost writer/director? I really have a hard time to think so, something must have happened. Or did he write the first eps and then decided to run off with Yoo Ah In to some other project?
And please don't say that its too deep or difficult for normal people to understand, it's not. It feels like I could write an essay about all the bad things concerning this drama but many of you have already pointed out most of them, but this is seriously like a 3.5 on imdb imo. I am not kidding. If you think about it thats almost an achievement with this cast, staff and all the Netflix money. This harsh review comes from someone who really wanted to LOVE this drama and waited with passion every single day for it for months.
Is it only me or does SHK just feel like an empty shell or something? Wooden acting, soulless. Doesn't particularly dislike her or anything but remember getting the same impression when I tried to watch Encounter. Dropped after 2 eps.
