The beginning tricked me into thinking I knew what drama I was about to watch. Funny, lighthearted drama that I can play in the background. But the last few episodes had me in tears. Wonderful ost by Gabe Watkins. Till this day the lyrics 🎵 Beyond the wall where tears no longer fall🎵 are still playing in my head.
Overall the drama was thought provoking. No spoilers, it made me think of freedom and how much of it we truly have. In a way, this world eerily mirrors ours, men are limited so the rest of the world has limited access to them for everyone's "own good". The women have a form of "freedom" and they've found normality in it, even acceptance. That is probably wild to most of us but in their shoes, would we be any different? What makes this a compelling watch is that this could be us.
Also do we take what little freedom we have of it for granted? Or are we truly blind enslaved puppets like they are? *Spolier* Almond's character hit hard because he represented the percentage of us who would willingly put back on the blindfold after seeing the light.
And you have people pulling strings in the background tightening the nozzle of slavery on men while the rest of the world remains in a false sense of security. We might not be a society that has a low male population but dark nefarious activities masking in bright lights, flashy clothing, superficiality hits close to home.
