XY needs someone to break it down for her about her mum abandonment issues. She was very young when she lost her mum, followed by misadventures and getting tortured and fending for herself. Or I guess we can get grandpa to modify that karate chop into a "reboot system" chop for XY? LOL 🤪🤣😂

I guess in a way, Jing grew some 🥜 and just did what he should have done a long time ago, i.e. to go off with XY, the love of his life.
It was Jing's wishy washy thinking about grandma's feelings, thinking about clan responsibilities, thinking that XY needed a grand princess wedding befitting of her status and station, thinking of Hou lurking in the background waiting to kill him etc etc that made him look so weak and indecisive in S1. I guess he got decisive now, unfortunately for his baby nephew. The old Jing would have put things on hold because baby nephew will get left behind, but not the more decisive Jing now.
But typical of Jing, he has plans in place to make sure baby nephew will not get usurped. Understand from the novel readers that CX has been asked to back the baby nephew up till he comes of age to assume full responsibility. No one will dare mess with this baby fox with CX as backer. And TuShan clan elders will run the show for now.
But yes, I do see the point that the boy is going to be lonely because he has no parents love. He is also paying the price for Hou's wickedness. If Hou had not been such a bus-tart, hell bent on ruining Jing, baby nephew would have parents (Hou + FFYY). But Hou was just in it for the revenge and discarded his mum FFYY once she had no more use to him. ARGH...can someone Ramsay Bolton Hou?!!

I think each character is beautifully flawed in their own way. If Jing were harder, he would not be kind. If XL were softer, he would not be able to lead the ChenRong army and take care of them. If CX was less political and more caring, he would not have survived till today and become the emperor.
