Yes, LYF was after TTEOTM but I guess he was still categorized under "newbie" at that point in time and treated accordingly as can be seen by the cold water and other bad treatment.
Btw, he fainted because of the heat? I remember he was lying on the hot summer Hengdian floor as the wounded Jing for extended periods of time right? 😅
He achieved superstar status after LYF, playing a role that supposedly no big star wanted. So proud of him. Comforting to know that he now has 3 assistants running after him with umbrellas. LOL And so far he has been doing well in costume dramas, a genre that is hard to achieve good ratings. 💪💪

LYF is Lost You Forever
As with most drama adaptations, the screenplay didn’t stick strictly to the novel. That upset novel fans and gave non-readers a very different impression of the characters.
As for “suffering,” DW was a relative newbie during LYF filming and was treated accordingly. For example, his sea-drifting scene, the water tank wasn’t heated. He shot the entire scene in cold water, shivering so badly he requested for a short break because he couldn’t speak properly from all that shivering. He never complained, but those on set who saw it were heartbroken for him. FYI, heated tanks or adding hot water are standard practice for popular, well-known artistes. Not for DW the newbie.
Some LYF fans really disliked Jing, DW’s character. Which is fair, everyone has their favorites, else the forum is going to be a boring place, with only one POV. But some went beyond criticism into full-on hate, mocking both the role and DW himself. It got to the point where an anti was filmed going up to scold him — seriously? He’s an actor playing a role. Not every character will resonate with everyone, but bashing both character and actor is just low. Apparently, separating actor from role is too complex for some minds. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♂️
Anyways, this is the DSL page. We’re here to talk about the drama, the characters, and share fun tidbits about the cast.
