Yeah! I continued watching and realized. I thought it would be something more immediately dramatic (like serving an imperial gift at the gathering, if there were some taboos around that) but the outcome was way worse than I expected. More stupid than embarrassing.

Why do I feel like Yake's maid is slowly losing faith in her. Or maybe I'm projecting.

I'm wondering the same thing too! Maybe it's easier to give up his sister but not YJX because maybe 1) he had promised him that seat in the exams, maybe wants more benefits and doesn't want to sour this connection 2) YJX could retaliate against him if he found out 3) he's just stupid

I'm only a little into ep 9 and I'm getting second hand embarrassment from Yake serving the imperial pastries. Gosh I'm gonna have to muster the courage to see what mess this turns into now

I thought it was good! It's quite long, but you will enjoy the story even if you decide to drop it later. Since we have access to the ML and FL's inner thoughts, it's quite cute and fun to see their relationship progression. I also felt like they were nicely fully fledge characters with nice growth.

Maryena is right! If you're enjoying the drama as is, my recommendation would be to wait to read it until after to avoid comparisons since both are good. But if you're not the type to be bothered by those things then it's worth checking out.

It's a significant symbol, that so many viewers noticed. Kept us on the edge of our seats "when is she going to notice". It would be stupid if they edited it out or forgot it. really hope they haven't and acknowledge it in the next episodes.

I think she might have thought they were fake because she already had experience with fake soldiers/yamen runners from the previous episodes (when they came to forcibly take grain and encourage the rioters). I hope they will show her noticing the hair tie in the next episodes, because it is an important symbol they can't just leave.

I would argue that it's not senseless (in the context of the drama). From the first episode, I believe, there was always the threat of war looming in the distance even if it hasn't reached them yet. It was bound to happen. It's also part of the villain's evil plot.

I remember them addressing this naivety in the novel. She learns and grows later, I remember the ML in the novel helping her understand this aspect of business too. I hope they show her growth in this aspect in the drama too.
