Chaotic story, but it had its undeniable charm. Even though I usually hate dramas where the main couple only gets together at the very end, in this case it didn’t ruin my enjoyment at all. The pair has great chemistry and some really passionate scenes together. Both actors look stunningly beautiful. My favorite scene is the one where the demonic Empress Dowager is rolling a plastic facial massager all over her skin. I love when the creators have that kind of self-aware distance from their own work.
A fairly successful adaptation. My favorite version of this story is the latest one with Wang Haozhen and Xu Zhenzhen, titled "Addicted to Marriage" (婚后成瘾).
Though maybe it’s not actually that bad, because back in January this year you could still watch Love as a Cure…
He didn’t end up on the official blacklist, but he’s definitely dealing with a soft ban. A woman claiming to be his ex publicly accused him of cheating and being promiscuous while they were together. She also alleged he had a drug addiction. Despite all that, his pre-recorded dramas actually aired this year, and he’s reportedly already filming new short dramas.
