I haven't watched the donghua /animation. From the drama's info, Wu Xin learned a lot of forbidden/secret powerful skills which other people don't have. So he's probably on the top level in the story's world.

Xiao Se was 17 when he was destroyed of his martial skills 4 years ago. So he's 21 now. I'm not sure about LWJ, but he's probably below 20.

The demon sect and the other sects/countries made an agreement 12 years ago, they sent the demon sect leader's son - Wu Xin to the other sects/countries as a hostage until he reaches 17. So he can return to his home now.

However, he learned a lot of forbidden/secret powerful skills, and also the other sects are worried the demon sect will invade them again once WX returns. So they want to kill him.
