Yes even though he was a spoilt brat king, and couldn't convey his feelings for the princess properly (not that she was any better), he Did genuinely love her.

Pond is just ridiculously good in Me & Thee!! The way he delivers cliched lines but still makes them land perfectly AND with no groans but awwwwws from the viewers instead!!! 👏🏼❤️
