If someone asks me whether in Hollywood, Korea, or my own country to name a drama about a strong female friendship, I can’t think of any, and I think there are two reasons for this: either to appeal to a female audience, or because of the stereotype that women are always rivals, not friends.
Have you ever stopped to notice that this kind of drama whether it’s movies or TV shows never features two women? That leads me to conclude that the goal is to capture the attention of women, especially us straight women.
it's really disgusting to promote a pure straight drama as a bromance drama
“Bromance” is a term coined by fans of American TV shows and movies and has nothing to do with homophobia. Chinese BL fans adopted the term for censored C-dramas because of the Chinese government’s censorship.
bromance is NOT bl, and romance is not the main genre, it is mainly about the painist DUO
In Korea, unlike Hollywood or Europe, it feels like there's kind of a divide between actors who are willing to take on gay roles usually lesser-known actorsand the bigger, more established stars who tend to avoid them. Just look at the actor from Love in the Big City. He basically disappeared after that.
