It’s a bit personal but his acting in My Mister touched me deeply. His character resonated with me. I just lost my Father at that time, and I couldn’t even be with him in his final moment due to the lockdown imposed in the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. I was numb and I couldn’t cry. Then the bleak poster of that drama just moved me to watch it for the first time. After I finished, it’s like a floodgate was suddenly opened. I cried for 3 days. It was so cathartic. Finally I can let go. I feel he is the embodiment of his character Park Dong Hoon. A man hiding his sadness. After that I started watching his other works one by one. I like most of them, but My Mister, Diary of a Prosecutor and Coffee Prince are my favorites. In those dramas he exudes charisma and his acting were just flawless. Thank you Lee Sun Kyun. You will be My Ajusshi forever.
I was planning to go to South Korea next year and do a Kdrama tour. Now I don’t have the heart to even watch another Kdrama. Good thing I haven’t started anything new, what with the current world issues, they’re not that interesting to me anymore. Someday I might be able to watch any of his works again, when I’m missing him too much. My heart goes to his family and close friends. I hope somehow his name can be clear again.
