I’ve got a question- Both leads are transmigrators but FL transmigrated as an adult in her 20s but ML transmigrated as a school boy in his teen years. So how are they going to play around with the ending? it’s not weird for them to have a romantic relationship in the novel world as the ML grew up from a kid prince to an adult king, but if he goes back to being a school kid after the transmigration ends then that’s gonna suck. but it doesn’t make sense for them to change him into a full grown man just like that. so that would mean he skipped school, uni and life while he was transmigrated. And I don’t think cdrama transmigration end that way. it’s usually a dream or a coma so people don’t disappear for years before they return to their og world but only few mins to days pass.

I’ve got another theory. I think her company CEO, who bought rights for the book after paying crazy amounts is ML. There’s nothing to prove but I can just feel it, so ML probably experienced all this and then bought book rights to make FL read so she can also transmigrate and then they can reunite back in the real world. So that would mean ML transmigrated and returned to real world years before FL did.

there is a censorship ban for all types of transmigration and reincarnation plots. but that doesn’t stop people from releasing the dramas. the drama team works around the censorship laws and release them. so that means the endings for such dramas are not very satisfactory and people pleasing. the ban has been there for ages and I watch 4-5 transmigration cdramas every year. Are you new to cdramas by any chance? there’s soo many transmigration cdramas out there.

I’ve got a question- in episode 12 the apothecary owner tries to kill her with the alligator and says someone made him do it and he was waiting for her. and then she goes to her master telling him he could’ve killed her. Wait so who was it? did the master play a prank on her or did the actual killer wanted her dead?

And what’s with all these people getting locked up in palace rooms. these rooms look flimsy as hell, the windows are made of wood and paper, I don’t think you can stay locked up in these rooms. A strong kick from any of the leads would’ve broken a window and could’ve escaped. I know the FL had different plans at the end but in the beginning when she realised she got locked up she could’ve thought of it.

I was confused like you too. she was mentioned in episodes 4 and 5 and then they suddenly mentioned her in 9 so I’d forgotten her too. She was the one who embroidered Han Xiao’s purse which the flowers bloomed from and then she went to Hu Da for a loan. I was wondering why ML keeps crying about his 5000 salary. I thought it wasn’t bad. that was until checked how much it is in US dollars. I get the ML now $720 isn’t going to get you anywhere, that’s like minimum wage in china lol. considering the millions he’s making his salary is soo less. correct me if I’m wrong.

i know this drama is supposed to be funny but every time i look at him sleeping in a camping tent in his unfurnished house i feel sad. I thought apartment developers do the basic work but his apartment is still under construction like how can they let you move in to a place like that.

it’s very much hyped in the cdrama community, actors are super popular and the drama is hitting good numbers. there are multiple reasons as to why people aren’t rating this high. as mentioned somewhere down in the comments it might be haters. Bai Lu is really popular so she’s got a considerable amount of haters, and people who like romance aren’t liking this because it’s not romance. welcome to the cdrama community, this is everyday reality for us lol. after a few dramas you’ll get used to it like I did.

it’s very common to see ratings like this in cdramas on mdl. The rating keeps fluctuating until the drama is completed. a lot of cdramas on mdl don’t get rated more than 8.5 while airing so the current number is not bad but then again mdl ratings are not accurate at all. some people underrate or overrate it on purpose.

I liked the name Chasing jade even more. what’s with new name? Or they should’ve just kept it Zhu yu. Pursuit of jade doesn’t roll off your tounge that easy.

you’ll only know last minute if it’s on Netflix. until then iqiyi is your best bet. Netflix is the worst with Cdramas. they don’t announce anything in advance like other platforms. my guess is that it might not be on Netflix. Netflix tends to release youku dramas more than tencent dramas.

They wanted to double check to see if the story had changed. And they also wanted to check if the SML is also a transmigrator like them.

So SFL is og transmigrator and the only one mentioned in the book. ML and FL transmigrated too so they thought there’s a change in the story. they weren’t sure if the SFL was the same so they wanted to check it out just in case. They obviously were not supposed to get transmigrated so who knows what else changed.

yes SFL is a book character. so her transmigration is part of the novel. ML and FL get transmigrated into a novel which is already a transmigration story with Xie Yonger in it.

I get what you mean. the personality, voice and comedy screams Ao Ruipeng more but the tyrant emperor look fits Cheng Lei more. ARP would look too young for the role.

I saw the donghua last year and don’t remember some details clearly. Is SML a transmigrator like they suspected in the ep 6. If my memory serves me right he’s an actual character and he tries his best to figure out what ML, FL and SFL are so he’s not a transmigrator. Even though the novel describes him to be the ML he actually has a villain personality so I think the novel was written in a 3rd person POV so that’s why there is a lot of flexibility for his character to develop their own personality and thoughts which I think he did. Novel FL thinks he’s good because that’s how the pov describes him to be but from his version he’s a villain.

I’ve finished 2 eps on Netflix. And I’ve got mixed reactions. it’s definitely the darkest eeriest cdrama I’ve seen so idk how I feel about it yet. I’m soo used to seeing romance and comedy mixed in when I watch Cdramas. And Bai lu is soo badass here. I usually watch some dramas in 1.5x speed but this drama has soo many details so I’m just watching it in regular speed now.

2. No breakups
3. No love triangle
4. Happy ending but censorship rules apply so it’s up to you if you take it as a happy ending. But it’s definitely not a bad ending.
5. Yes there is romance but more of a comedy romance than a romantic comedy. So I didn’t focus much on their romance.
6. Yes there’s kissing and skinship scenes but it’s old school Cdrama vibes definitely not like speed and love.

I rated this drama a 7/10. It was a fun watch. I loved the second hand embarrassment i got from the FL and loved seeing CXX in comedy. This was soo funny I didn’t think I’d actually laugh out that loud but well I did. I gave it a low rating for obvious reasons. The story and timeline was confusing. The last episode was even more confusing for me. I hoped they kept the funny pace for all episodes but the last 2-3 episodes got a bit dark and felt like I was watching a completely different series.

The ending is not that bad compared to the other dramas with censorship issues I’ve seen. But still not well explained for me. I’ve come across lots of theories for it but nothing is convincing enough. I’m just going to think that this whole drama is a novel plot. Both the worlds are inside a novel so she traveled to a novel within a novel, so all the other stuff is explainable if you think it’s a story.

this is the one for you then. misunderstanding isn’t too long and the misunderstanding is needed for the plot. and it’s funny too.
