best way to watch these long ass drama is just to watch reels or shorts

i agree with you. i really liked this at first but as the episodes come out, there are no signs of the mom changing or the show acknowledging her behaviour. they do say some words here and there but it’s not enough (i remember how the brother told his mother to not blame herself after fl left home bc of the engagement thing… i was baffled). i feel like the writers are excusing the mother’s behaviour because (as i got from comments) it’s quite normal for china i was patient at first because this is a chinese show so there will be some cultural things i don’t get but this is just not caring about developing the character or making her improve so if it continues i too will rate this lower than i initially did :(
you should definitely share more of their comments! it would be nice to see as there are usually only complaints about the mother here and new people miss out on the drama because of it (even tho i do agree with them, we should discuss other things too ..) after all, we’re from different cultures and i guess chinese people are more understanding towards characters like the mother that’s why the comments there and here differ so much …

i’m a bit 🥴 because when mai chenghuan and yao zhiming start dating the mom will probably like it just because he is rich … although i guess after what happens in tomorrow’s episode her daughter will be rich too so she may be more picky about chenghuan’s future husband and may not only look at how much money he has …
