Will be re-reading the whole novel one more time. Will share more of my thoughts on it later. What I can say is…
I'm reading the novel at the same pace the episodes release and I think it's a good thing we have those little differences. Sometimes we get a little more context or kinda like extended scenes so it makes it possible to fully enjoy both at the same time. Definitely recommend to do that for those who can after watching the episodes.
And for once the translation is really good, it's not perfect obviously because it's a very hard language to translate. But the person who did it gives us so much context, explain their decision sometimes. Very pleasant read.
I don't know what to think about this show anymore. I keep seeing comments about Tonkla stealing the show but it's not exactly hard to do when you almost get more screentime than the 2 leads combined. It almost feels like they put Bible in the lead for his popularity but didn't write the show with his character in the lead.
Where we are at the end of episode 7 I'm really not confident about them being able to wrap up everything in one episode.
I think from now I will be very cautious when I start a Be on Cloud BL (if they ever do another one). They do a lot things much better than other thai BL. Acting, production etc it usually is pretty good. But god are they wasting these great ideas with half baked scripts. It was the same thing with KinnPorsche a show about mafia who really lacked ... mafia stuff.
I really don't know if the NC scenes will be like that for Great and Tyme later on cos even with their flashforwards/flashbacks…
I get that it can represents his character but the issue is that he add absolutely nothing to the plot right now and those sex scenes are long so it feels like a complete waste of time. He most likely will be connected in some ways later but right now it's just random sex scenes with a random character that I personally don't care to see at all untill we learn more about his brother and why they didn't show him to us.
As much as I like the show I'm getting a little annoyed by the unecessarily long scenes with some of the side characters. They're not adding much to the plot yet, there's no connection to them so all of it feels very forced to me and filler content. Because of it I feel like we don't see the leads enough which for a 10 episodes show is a little frustrating.
Bible as Great is much cuter and sexy than Vegas.. Vegas was toxic and a bit psycho... But either way he is a…
A bit psycho is the understatement of the year. If Bible wasn't that attractive people would see Vegas and his relationship very differently :') But I agree he's pretty convincing in both his roles and I love his chemistry so far with Jes. Hopefully they get another drama in the future because 8 episodes, especially with this kind of theme, is so short.
I'm not sure if what Korn did counts as cheating. Like I mentioned before, their relationship seems purely transactional—typical…
I agree. I think it was pretty telling in the first episode when Tonkla ask not to use protection and Korn insisted on it. Tonkla looked disappointed but not exactly surprised either. There may be feelings involved but they're definitely not in an "official" relationship.
Seriously. James had a good plot/character arc but it was Net who carried the show. James was good enough but…
I think what they intended to do with his character was good but the execution felt more like a caricature. While it's not impossible for someone to go through that many traumatic events, for me the way they did it felt more like a checklist they had to go through to get a character with the worst back story possible. Regardless of his acting his pas shown as it was took away a lot of the potential emotional impact because it was more so trauma dumping rather than a fleshed out character who went through a lot. Even his personality didn't change much, you'd think he would have softened a bit after someone finally broke down his wall but from what I remember he was pretty rude the entire way through.
Sorry for all the rambling that's not really the place to discuss all that :')
I hope James find success in whatever he does next but I'm honestly not mad he decided to leave the show. His acting was really underwhelming in Bed Friend. The writing of his character probably didn't help but it sometimes felt like Net carried the whole thing on his shoulder despite what they were given to work with and the rest was way too many sex scenes to fill in the gap. So I'm glad he's getting another chance with a different co-star.
Peeps this drama is called *WE ARE* which means this is going to be about young people who are finding their footing…
I haven't started it yet but from your description that's still not much of a plot. That's just basic expectations to have with a drama dealing with a group of friends and romance. If they didn't even have that there would be no interactions between them. I don't know if all of them outside of PondPhuwin have had dramas together in the past, but with the very vague synopsis on MDL it gives me random university drama with way too many couples that we've had plenty of times before just to fill in the line up with popular couples. The synopsis might not give justice to the drama but I also don't think just being friends and love is enough without knowing at least a little about their individual struggles that would impact said friendships/romances.
Very open ended but I think they had really good chemistry and were pretty good are selling their roles. Another case of a BL where with a bigger budget and the length of a "normal" drama we had something with a lot of potential. And a good BL melodrama would be so great.
It's quite common for folks who aren't feeling a character to end up saying negative things about the actor playing…
I'm sorry It's gonna be "controversial" because I feel like sometimes BL fans in general can be a little too forgiving (not the right word, but I can't find the right one) with bad acting. Anyway how is "he cannot act" considered a toxic criticism ? It's a more than valid one imo. I agree when it comes to looks and everything we all have our own personal taste but that's definitely something we should keep to ourselves. But acting ? no. At the end of the day it's their job so I think expecting them to play their role properly is the bare minimum. I'm on the fence for "looks uncomfortable" though. Do you mean a viewer commenting that their look are uncomfortable to watch or the actor looking uncomfortable while acting? If it's the actor and it's not part of the scene in question then it's definitely a casting issue. Outside of being casted under shady circumstances they know what they're getting into so if you think you can't play a gay character then don't play in a BL. But I guess here it's more the casting fault's rather than the actor, they'd be dumb not to take the job if we let them have it.
I went in with lower than low expections so I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought. But those 2 last episodes what a mess... Theo being mad at Akk about his parents even though he created the whole Enchanté thing was something else. I loved Akk's line where he told Theo he was fine let him go because he didn't want to be a hypocrite after he told him to let his parents be. It really put into perspective Theo snapping at him earlier and I think show how unbalanced their relationship is. Once again we get a character that has everything, loved by everyone, getting a pass for everything while doing barely anything for his love interest in return. It's nowhere near as bad as Bed Friend because Theo was a nice character for the most part but it's still frustrating. Akk being too forgiving, then getting yelled at for something less than what Theo did, being dumped and yet still be understanding of why even if he hates it. Worse him not getting an explanation from Theo but from Sun and he's still the one doing the first step to get them back together and then HE PROPOSES ?! I mean I'm probably the worst target for that because I usually hate proposals at the end of a Bl/drama or book, I just think it's too cliché and lazy especially when they've known each other for 6 months. Obviously here they've known each other for much much longer but still that proposal felt very out of place in my opinion. Even before the break up they never really had time to just be together.
Anyway I know it sounds very negative but I did enjoy it. The plot is ridiculous but Force and Book have great chemistry with each other which makes me a little more hopeful about my potential enjoyment of A Boss and A Babe. Probably won't like the writing of Book's character once again but at least I should be getting good scenes between the 2 of them.
I just finished episode 6 and I'm struggling a little with the pacing of the show. It feels a little too slow. It's unfortunate that Hinata is such a bland character some of the side characters are so much more interesting and definitely have a better story arc so far. I really hope the hints about some romantic interest won't lead to anything because there really isn't much chemistry with either of the guys, at least as a potential love interest. I hate to be the guy who see BL everywhere but if anything it should have been between the 2 guys.
