Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
How is she so badly written? I wish people would actually explain their rational rather than just making blanket…
I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say. Why do you think that just because she's a tactician or good with tactics then it means that she has to want revenge? It simply means that she's good at setting up battles and battle strategies. She wanted revenge because her family, especially her mother whom she loved, was killed off in the process of her uncle's coup. As she's traveling though, she's learning at different points in the story that she loves her people and she starts having conflict between her desire for revenge against her uncle and prioritizing her country/people. She starts to realize that harming her uncle also means harming her country in the process since he is a good emperor to her people. Of course she's refusing to help Ashile destroy her people, again, because she's learning that she loves her country, even if she hates the new Emperor(her uncle). How is she badly written when they're considering both her anger/hatred/need for revenge as well as the human/caring/loyal/unselfish/and compassionate sides of her character? I love that they write her as being very human. Although she's smart and brave, she's also inexperienced and impulsive at times and makes mistakes. However, she's also willing to learn. IMO, not being perfect, yet, being willing to grow makes her a great character.
