Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
How is she so badly written? I wish people would actually explain their rational rather than just making blanket…
I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say. Why do you think that just because she's a tactician or good with tactics then it means that she has to want revenge? It simply means that she's good at setting up battles and battle strategies. She wanted revenge because her family, especially her mother whom she loved, was killed off in the process of her uncle's coup. As she's traveling though, she's learning at different points in the story that she loves her people and she starts having conflict between her desire for revenge against her uncle and prioritizing her country/people. She starts to realize that harming her uncle also means harming her country in the process since he is a good emperor to her people. Of course she's refusing to help Ashile destroy her people, again, because she's learning that she loves her country, even if she hates the new Emperor(her uncle). How is she badly written when they're considering both her anger/hatred/need for revenge as well as the human/caring/loyal/unselfish/and compassionate sides of her character? I love that they write her as being very human. Although she's smart and brave, she's also inexperienced and impulsive at times and makes mistakes. However, she's also willing to learn. IMO, not being perfect, yet, being willing to grow makes her a great character.

Almost 5 years...yet TLB is still one of my favorites. Can't even say how many times I watched it 🙈Romance is…
Still my favorite drama in 2026. It's perfect for my kind of taste in drama. I love a good, well-balanced story: war, family, sisterhoods, brotherhoods, forgiveness, character growth, romance, love for one's country/people. It's the kind of drama that doesn't need intimacy in its love stories because it focuses on much deeper issues such as mutual understanding, forgiveness, making sacrifices for one another, and the mature/healthy aspects of a couple's relationship(rather than all the misunderstandings and toxicity you find in so many other dramas).

is there a decent amount of romance in this show or naw?
Depends on what you mean by 'romance'. There are definitely love stories, but it's not the kind of drama that is focused on intimate scenes. Love is expressed in the way the characters make sacrifices for one another, understand one another, do things for each other. If you're looking for a lot of intimacy, you won't find that here. IMO, this drama is one of those that didn't need the intimacy anyway. It's perfectly beautiful the way it is.

I absolutely did not feel one shred of evidence of great chemistry between the leads. To me it felt like two actors…
Chemistry is a very personal thing. I'm sure there are couples that you feel a lot of chemistry from where I won't feel any. We don't all like the same things, and that's totally okay. I personally loved them together. They made me feel all the emotions and awkwardness of young love. I had butterflies every time they interacted. Each to his or her own though.

Awesome! I look forward to seeing LeiLei at the event. Also, I see that Song Zuer will be attending as well. Am I the only one who really, really wants to see LeiLei and Song Zuer reunite in a new project together?

The One... more like The ZERO. Come to think of it, I never enjoyed Leo Wu's works very much. Fights Break Sphere…
Now, you don't even look at "The Zero", except you're always here looking at it, always whining about the same thing. Did Wu Lei steal the main role from you or something? Need some rear end cream for that nasty sore?

Li Wanda's most recent drama is Northward. It's a modern drama, and not a costume one, but if you just want to see what she's like with acting, you can see her in there. I don't know much about her either, but she seems like a pretty natural actress.

For someone who claims that this series is stupid and that they'll be sitting this one out, you sure put a lot of effort and energy into posting about it. Why not spend your energy on things that you actually enjoy? Leo Wu w/Jelly Lin was fine enough. Leo Wu w/Zhao Lusi was okay. I would far rather see him with someone new and different though. It's kind of silly that you think the success or failure of this project is somehow going to all hinge entirely on Li Wanda, and you already view her as a failure even though she hasn't even done all that many dramas nor has she really proven herself to be a failed actress. Box office movies are also very different from dramas. I imagine that it would actually be much more difficult for box office movies to succeed vs a drama. I haven't seen her in "Under One Person", but even if one role from a project didn't suit her all that much, it doesn't mean that she won't do well in any other role. Seriously, what do you have against her?

Changge and A'Sun already got married. She already married him in front of her mother's spirit tablet, acknowledging…
They didn't say that they don't want to be married. They said that they didn't "need too much red tape"...meaning, that they didn't need to do more than what was already done(which was Changge doing a quick marriage/union ceremony in front of her mother's spirit tablet and acknowledging that Sun would be her husband from that day forth). It wasn't the traditional, formal ceremony with all the red tape in front of both families, but it was fine and enough. If Changge didn't want to marry/bind herself to Sun then she wouldn't have bothered with any ceremony in the first place. That scene happened for a reason, and any ceremony that she would have done in front of her mother's spirit tablet would be sacred and extremely meaningful. Also, if you noticed, later on after Changge performed the ceremony, there was a scene in which Changge's master, Situ, referred to Sun as his "disciple-in-law". You're not really called an in-law unless you're married into the family. He used that term because he's acknowledging Changge's marriage to Sun. Even in modern times, not everyone chooses to have a union/marriage with someone by traditional means. Sun and Changge aren't the traditional type, and it's clear to see that in the various decisions that they make(their union ceremony, the way they chose to not live under the protection of Li Shimin, how Changge chose to erase herself from history and not take any credit for having saved the country, etc, etc).

I love the idea of this drama more than I love the drama itself. I felt like the drama was missing something that…
Changge and A'Sun already got married. She already married him in front of her mother's spirit tablet, acknowledging to her mother that Sun was her husband from that day forward. All she and Sun agreed to was the idea that that was enough and that they didn't need the traditional red wedding. They went to the grasslands together in the end.

Do we know who lead actress is? Is it Lee Wanda? Or Zhang Xueying? I'm a little confused.

dont watch this drama if u are expecting a strategic war (revenge) story, u will be disappointed like me.
I enjoyed it a lot, personally, because it wasn't just another typical revenge story. I love the character development and how the journey really changed Changge's priorities, trajectories, and her end goals. Really beautiful story, IMO.

The story, the cast, the acting, the aesthetics. 10/10 drama. It has topped anything ive ever seen. #1 for me,…
Same! It's my favorite C-drama. Just curious, but your name "Yona"...does that come from the manga/anime "Yona of the Dawn"? If so, Changge's journey somewhat starts on a similar premise as Yona's journey, doesn't it? Both princesses lose everything by people that they love, and start off on something of a journey for revenge. They both grow and really learn to prioritize their country/their people, sometimes really struggling with their personal feelings toward those who hurt them.

How would a wlw romance between Changge and Mimi been better?
If you just don't like Leo Wu then, that's fine. Plotwise-though, I don't know how it would have been better. Leo Wu was amazing in this role, IMO, but each to his or her own.

Is there a reason why this film is taking so long to come out? This was filmed in 2023, correct? I've been waiting to see Wu Lei in some awesome action scenes.
