I think you guys are mistaking "not caring about the aftermath" with "having no other choice in those situations". Can you give specific examples and also talk about what you REALISTICALLY would have done in her shoes without all the hindsight and 3rd perspective views that only the viewers(not her) are privileged to have? There was really only one instance where I thought she shouldn't have made the moves that she did(and that was only because she already got proper warning from Ashile Sun regarding who she should only trust).

He's often highly praised for his equestrian skills by the Chinese fans. He makes his own vlogs about his travels, and in some of them, he can be seen happily adventuring on horseback.

Well, that's a first. Most people loved the wigs that Wu Lei wore and would argue that Wu Lei looked far better in the Ashile Tribe get-ups than he did in his Tang outfits. I feel the same way, actually...though I also did love his tang outfits too. Having seen a part of the Donghua, read a part of the manhua, and seen the entire drama; I think it's more difficult for the die-hard fans of the manhua to like the drama because it's so different visually from the manhua and donghua. In the drama's defense though, I don't think you can make any real-life person look like drawings in a manhua. They just won't look anywhere as formidable, or, as in Changge's case: as androgynous. I thought Wu Lei and Dilraba looked and played their parts very well. I couldn't imagine any other actors/actresses playing those roles. Just out of curiosity, who do you think would have been better casts for the roles of Sun and Changge?

Remember that scene where Changge had her period and fainted against Sun, and he carried her back to the tent where Mujin and Mimi finally discovered that she's truly female? That was her first period...and she didn't really know how to handle it so Mimi had to give her advice. Yeah, she's supposed to be young...14, barely 15 at the start of the story.

I would argue that she's the one who moves the plot, not the "trouble-maker". First off, she didn't start the trouble within Tang. Her father and her uncle started that with their political disputes and the coup. Because of Li Shimin's coup, those who remained loyal to her father were already planning to hold out their loyalty and to rebel against the new CP. Changge was simply initially planning to join them in their rebellion against Li Shimin...which, she ultimately did not do anyway. She actually helped save Tang against them when she learned that their rebellion would hand Tang to Ashile. And she def did not start anything in Shuozhou either, since war in that area had been going on for decades between the Eastern Turkic Khaganate(led by Ashile Tribe) and the Han people(both the previous Sui dynasty and Tang) before she was even born. They were already fighting and there was going to be major war there, whether she went and worked for Governor Gongsun Heng or not. Sun even warned her not to go there in the first place because of the ongoing wars. Without her, the city would have actually fallen to Ashile Tribe sooner. And it wasn't even her decision to surrender. As for what happened within Ashile...there was already trouble there too with problems between She'er and Sun, with She'er constantly sabotaging Sun, and She'er's mother plotting and planning revenge for decades. Without Changge getting involved in these things and eventually helping bring peace, the war between the Han people and Ashile would have just kept going and nothing would have changed. I mean, would you blame Leyan for "starting trouble" when she got abducted and people had to go searching for her?

I don't really watch JJY's dramas, but I'm not sure I understand why people are claiming that LXY had better chemistry with the first FL. To me, they hardly had any chemistry. She played the character in a really bland, boring way...which didn't do anything for the ML's already stoic, cold character. And in terms of looks, they're not physically compatible either. She looks older than him, like his auntie, to be honest. At least JJY, once she stepped in and mixed Caiwei's character with Shangguan Zhi's character, had that playful side to bring out the ML's character more.

Even with all these new dramas though, there's still nothing similar to TLB. I find it unique in that it's a war+revenge drama that's actually quite anti-war/anti-revenge.

Well, if you get around to it, I hope you'll enjoy it some. I personally love TLB, but I also know that people's tastes vary.

Prior to that moment, he was also an ally who saved her over and over though? He wasn't even there when A'dou died, and he also had friends who died in the war. What I'm trying to say is that neither Changge or Sun have any control in the war between their nations. That war started long ago before either were born, in endless cycles of revenge and a struggle for power. His loyalty is to his own people, just as hers is to Tang. He did his best to protect her in the only way that he could without betraying his people. Changge wouldn't have been able to betray hers for him either, and what I love is that both clearly understand each other in that regard. And he didn't turn her into a slave to humiliate her. He did it purely to save her life, and to protect her from not just his angry soldiers who were demanding she be killed, but from her own people who inaccurately saw her as a traitor. Do you think her humiliation is more important than her life? Changge understands the love that one has for one's country and all of these other things, which is why she didn't hold a grudge. Sun never treated her horribly either, despite claiming her as a slave. She was promoted in his camp to his war councilor quite quickly. All he cared about was that she try to survive, and not give in to depression. He gave her space, and respected/believed in/trusted her enough to let her run around doing pretty much whatever. I don't think he treated her horribly at all, or was even controlling, and that's why I personally love their relationship. Despite the fact that they're enemies, they have a mutual understanding and a pretty healthy relationship...a great partnership, even. Most of these dramas with the enemies trope usually are a little too toxic for me with all kinds of grudges, misunderstandings, distrusts, and what not...but that wasn't the case for me with TLB. Sun and Changge have a better relationship than many couples in other dramas who aren't even enemies to begin with.

I haven't seen the donghua and I don't really know much about the story, but I'm excited to hear you say that. I'm a huge Wu Lei fan and am looking forward to this project of his. I really hope it's a huge success and that he does the ML character, Chen Ping'an, great justice with his expressive and versatile acting. I want to look into the donghua, but I also don't want to spoil myself too much about the plot.

Have you tried the drama yet? What do you think of their power dynamic? Just wanted to say that I don't believe that the ML spends time bossing FL around at all. There was maybe one short moment in the middle of the series where ML pretends to act authoritative over her, but only to disguise his true intentions, and is actually really supportive and respectful of FL the majority of the time. ML is quite level-headed and grounded. Most of the time, FL is running around rogue, lol. FL can outsmart others, but I would say that, at times, she's also more hot-headed than ML. Despite being enemies and all of that, they have quite a healthy relationship built on equal partnership, trust, admiration, and respect.

The manhua specifies that she's 14 at the beginning of the story(Ashile Sun is a 19 year-old general). It's why Changge can get away with disguising herself as a teenage boy. And, yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree. Even though I don't agree with your viewpoint of her character, I do appreciate you taking the time to explain your thoughts. Thank you.

Her growth doesn't all come after 30 episodes. It slowly started happening at various points in the story, as early as when she got to Youzhou(Ep5/6). Her original plan was to ask her father's old "friend", the governor, for help to rebel against the new emperor. Once she realized that he was treacherous and planning to take the seal for himself, however, and was even going to allow Ashile to invade Tang to get what he wants, she decided to stop his plans in order to help her country. She wanted revenge against her uncle, but not at the cost of her country. And the fact that she's emotional, confused, "disoriented", and often conflicted in her feelings, is the human and realistic side of her character. She's not a robot. She's a human being who loved her mother and her family. It would not make any sense for her to be able to just control her emotions at the snap of a finger. Any of us, if our family got slaughtered, would be angry, very emotional, and even confused/conflicted as well. Your love, grief, and feelings for your family isn't suddenly just going to stop after a few days or even weeks/months. It makes sense that these intense feelings would stay with her for a long time. Character consistency is a part of good writing. Also, she's brave and can outsmart others, but she's not some top tier elite as you say. She was educated, yes, but she's still a 14-year old who lived in comfort all her young years and hadn't yet concerned herself with the sufferings of war and the realities of the outside world....hence, why she's learning from others, as she's traveling on her journey and gaining experience. You add her emotional state into the story, and the way that she is, is exactly how things should be.
