Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
The plot in Grassland become annoying and unbelievable. There are no logic at all.The plot armor on LCG are too…
I know people like to talk about Changge's plot armor, but I don't think it's as bad as some are saying. I'm guessing you're talking about the number of times she was shot or stabbed and still survived? If you think about it, only one time did an enemy truly shoot her to try to kill her. All the others times weren't people trying to kill her but intentionally shooting her to let her live/escape. Shuyu shot her to let her escape from Hao Du. Ashile Sun intentionally missed her heart because he didn't want her killed. And when she was stabbed by Xu Feng, it was a fake stab because they were plotting to trap an enemy. The one time she was truly shot at and luckily didn't die was when she was leading the wolf tribe guys away from Sun and Eagle division during the grassland arc. Also, how was the plot in the grasslands unbelievable? Are you talking about Changge's attempt to prevent them from attacking Tang? Her attempt to save Luo Yi who was a loyal general to her father? Or are you talking about all the chaos and in-fighting within Ashile Tribe?

This drama has no logic at all. You can still have a casual conversation in front of an enemy gate fortress at…
Happens in every C-drama and many, many works of fiction, actually. I think viewers sometimes take things like that too realistically and seriously. You're allowed to use your imagination a little since it's a work of fiction. Just imagine that they're talking loud enough for us viewers to hear, but not loud enough for the guards over by the gate to hear :)

That's also true.
They were also the most boring parts of this drama for me(and a little too cliche), but that's not to say that they were bad. They didn't detract from how much I enjoyed this drama. At least they had good character development :)

No matter how many dramas I search for, I can't find any like this one
Agreed. What I love about TLB is all the positive and inspiring messages it carries about friendship, family, love, loyalty, understanding, and forgiveness despite being a series about war, enemies, and revenge with several tragic events. I love the amount of character growth in this series. The bad characters aren't truly bad, or at least have a valid reason to be, and the majority of them even redeem themselves by the end. I also love Sun and Changge so much; both strong-willed, courageous, unselfish, impactful, and capable characters who are just as awesome individually as they are together as a duo. Healthy, understanding, and respectful relationships FTW.

I prefer TLB because I think it has more to offer viewers. Like, if you didn't enjoy the love story in LLTG(it was honestly too petty, too one-sided, and too negative for me), then I felt like there wasn't as much else to like. I only finished it for Wu Lei. My favorite relationships in LLTG was LBY's relationship with Emperor Wen and his two servants A'Fei and A'Qi. They kept me going when the going got tough. I didn't enjoy his relationship with FL(Shao Shang), unfortunately. Glad to hear that you're really enjoying it though.

Yep. In the manhua, that is the story. In the drama version though, it was changed so that he would be of Han descent. It was both insinuated at various points and stated by Sun himself that he's from the Central Plains.

LOL. I wanted someone to kick his butt so badly. I loved Changge's interactions with him

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
To me, a happy ending for a historical romance means the ML and FL end up together, not whatever that was. It…
No payoff? They ended up together in the grasslands, exactly where Changge had asked A'Sun to take her after they achieved peace. Changge and A'Sun got the happy ending they both wanted: marriage(by the union ceremony Changge performed in front of her mother's spirit tablet) and to go live together in the grasslands where Changge will live freely and happily as she wishes without being tied down by anyone. A'Sun promised that, as her man, he wouldn't tie her down...and the ending is symbolic of that. Changge is still having her adventures and her independence while A'Sun isn't interfering, but standing nearby, still watching over and protecting her. It's a beautiful ending, and totally fitting, considering the kind of characters Sun and Changge both are. I don't know why some viewers feel the need to be led by the hand with the typical/cliche ending where male and female lead are pictured standing right next to each other with no gap between them along with a child in the picture. I liked TLB's ending, personally. It was maybe a little on the short and quick side, but the message is happy and beautiful nevertheless. I actually appreciate that it's not the usual, cheesy cliche.

He wants to be a serious actor not a traffic star, he is trying more diverse and difficult roles.
His last two dramas were both romantic, modern dramas: "Nothing But You" and "Amidst a Snowstorm of Love", so it's absolutely not true at all that all he does is historical dramas. Even just from 2018 on up, he actually has several modern dramas and films:

-"Nothing But You"
-"Amidst a Snowstorm of Love"
-"Dwelling by the West Lake"
-"Our Times" (90's setting)
-"Upcoming Summer"
-"Adoring"
-"Cross Fire"
-"Tomb of the Sea"
-"Shicha Hai"

These all have modern settings("Upcoming Summer", "Adoring", and "Dwelling by the West Lake are films). He also has guest roles in several modern films that I didn't even mention. Wu Lei doesn't really go for romcoms as much. He wants to play more nuanced and complex characters with various worldviews that will allow him to show off his versatile acting abilities, not just be characters with a focus on being in love.

Would like to see Wu Lei collaborate with Lu Yu Xiao, Zhang Jing Yi, and Zhou Ye. Also, I kind of think a Wu Lei/Li Landi pairing might be interesting. And however people may feel about JJY's acting, visually, she and Wu Lei would make a pretty good-looking pair.

Wow. Zhou ye, Zhang Jing Yi and Bai Lu should be next with Wu Lei ❤️
Just my personal thought and, apparently, I'm in the minority based on results of votes, but I feel like Bai Lu wouldn't really be a good match with Wu Lei visually. I don't care about age gaps at all as long as it's not obvious visually, but she just looks more mature and older than he does.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I had been wondering which drama it was. Any idea why they're being so tight-lipped about this drama?

It's a pity for us drama lovers, not for him xD. As I explained below, he's currently on a movie streak—one…
Yes. LeiLei has always said that he wants to be a serious actor who can work in all kinds of films and big-budget box office hits/projects, too, rather than solely being a traffic star or idol actor. He wants to be able to rely on his acting skills more than just his looks. We may be missing him, but I think he's incredibly happy about where he is at the moment. So many film opportunities for him this year :)

Why didn't Great Khan trust Ashile Sun? A few reasons. For one thing, he's not his real son. It's simply more natural that a parent would trust their own blood(maybe not as true in this day and age but, back then, that would definitely have been the case). He's also not of Turkic blood either. He was found and then raised in Ashile Tribe, but he originally came from The Great Plains so he is supposed to be of Han descent(of the people of Tang). Lastly, I really just think Great Khan is someone who doesn't trust others easily because of his position of power. In the grasslands, one can easily be deposed of by someone stronger, someone more feared and admired. It would be more difficult to be trusting of others. I say this because he doesn't necessarily trust She'er any more than he does Sun, and She'er has his blood. Even though he doesn't fully trust him, it seems that he does actually see the good in Sun and is fully aware that Sun is more capable at pretty much everything than She'er is though.

How on earth did he manipulate her into accepting his proposal? She accepted his proposal twice, both times on her own. She even told Emperor Wen the first time that she was going to be making her own decision(to which he said that he would hold her to her words) and then she accepted his proposal. She was angry with her mother for airing her dirty laundry and decided that she was going to rebel by going against her mother's wishes, but it was because LBY somehow manipulated her? Give me a break. Please allow the girl to accept responsibility for her own decisions and actions.

And didn't I already say that LBY was flawed too? I pointed out the difference though. As I already said, he wasn't the one out there victimizing himself, blaming others for his problems, and punishing his supposed love for 5 years for not living up to unreasonable standards. I find it so ironic that, in the last two minutes of the drama, Shao Shang tells him that if she was going to die, she would want him to live on too. Girl saw the light and was able to finally start being a reasonable human being, but it took her punishing others for 5 long years before she came to her realization. What a waste of 5 years of their relationship. Only in a drama would such a relationship like that still work out in the end.

We might never see them again sadly. They had amazing chemistry and their CP was really strong after lltg but…
Try actually reading my posts. They're easy enough to comprehend. I clearly explained why I feel the way that I do. I saw Lusi throwing a tantrum at Wu Lei on set, so unless you're suggesting that the one screaming and calling him "annoying" and "crazy", and blaming him on set, wasn't actually her, then you can stop acting like you can't understand my position. Wu Lei could have been smiling for many reasons. Maybe he smiled it off to be the mature one and to de-escalate a situation rather than to make things worse. Maybe he was trying to keep things positive for the production crew instead of walking off the set. While you speculate that he enjoyed his treatment by Lusi, I'm going to say that nobody would prob enjoy that kind of treatment from a co-worker. If YOU want to ignore Lusi's behavior, be my guest, but I don't have to. I'm allowed to have my own opinion, and you're not going to shut me up just because you don't like hearing the facts that I point out. Why don't you ask yourself the questions that you ask me, hun? Are YOU also Wu Lei's personal psychic? Do you know him personally? Were you there behind the scenes of LLTG? If you're allowed to have opinions and to draw conclusions, then why am I not? And I draw my own conclusions from FACTS(such as how she treated him on set, or the fact that they don't talk publicly like how he does with ALL his other co-stars). You want to see them together in the future? That's your opinion, and you're more than welcome to it. I don't. Kindly butt out and stop trying to tell me how to think or feel.

I'm sorry, but what does my favorite actor's success in LLTG have to do with how I feel about the character of SS? And if LLTG was a success, part of it was thanks to my favorite actor. He definitely played his role well there, and I enjoyed his parts. As to whether he had anything else valuable after LLTG, that depends on how you define "valuable". Pretty sure his "Nothing but You" drama has a higher douban rating than LLTG. And he has received awards for other roles, too, since LLTG. He has also had a film recently that has been quite successful in the box office, making a very good amount of money. Both that film and he have been nominated for/won film awards. Don't try insulting someone you know nothing about. Instead, maybe focus on your favorite actress and how valuable(or not) her other works have been since then.

I watched it wrong because I didn't end up liking a character who is described in the summary as unruly and audacious? If you like that kind of a character, great for you. I didn't, and I don't have to. Deal with it.

Or maybe you should rewatch it because you're completely blind to a character because of your love for your actress? Lusi has been in other dramas where I had no issues liking the character she played. My dislike for the actress came way after my dislike for her character in this drama. And if I disliked a rude and annoying character who was too self-centered for me, it doesn't mean that I didn't understand the story. I def did not watch this drama for her anyway. I watched it for my favorite actor and his character. If he wasn't in it or if his character had been as unlikable as hers, I wouldn't have bothered with this series. And did someone force you to read my posts? Don't read someone's posts if their opinions bother you that much.
