I have not read the novel, but my guess is, ML brother may have named him a reagent or his father wanted him to inherit the throne, but due to the tracheary current Empress captured it, now ML has big army and support of his mother (Empress dowager). Hence, she wants to either cripple his power or kill him to secure her position as a reagent. While ML doesn't seem to have any interest in ruling.

He was in support and third ML role in dramas, you mentioned and hence according to industry standards its accolades don't belong to him. If we follow your way of doing things then Zhou Ye is GREAT ACTRESS (which she is but still young and below her peers like NiNi) cuz her film Better days 2019 received Oscar nomination. Mind you I don't hate the guy or anything like this but also understand, where people are coming from his acting in general role is bit weak, but he captures the essence of prince role. It's too early to call it but when FL finds out about his identity, and he has to play a complicated character dealing with duties, lovesickness and yet appear loyal. Then we will know about his acting prowess!

Everybody is speaking from their on dating experience here and I have been in relationships for six years (we started young) but not once my g.f did childish things like FL. We had problems but nobody was out there giving mixed signals to their ex's cuz it's extremely disrespectful to your partner. I personally believe least you can do in a relationship is stay loyal to your partner and I do pay for majority of stuff (I can easily afford it) but she saves her money for both of us and recently paid for lion share of the car under my name. Talking to people here has taught me, she is very very good to me and I may have hit jackpot. So, that's why I was cursing FL and was against her date debacle and giving unnecessary attention to her ex....I just hate infedility and thank God it has never happened to me !

I agree with he growth part but I can give little insight into why people (which were majority MEN) reacted that way. I am not throwing shade and accusing anybody but in L.A people actually behaves like FL, they cheat blame the guy, the want him to be rich, yet always have free time on his hand to deal with antics like her. The overwhelming blow-back you see from one gender is due to trauma they suffer in real life and now they have put up with it in entertainment too. Secondly according to my Chinese colleagues, dramas like these have completely ruined dating in Chinese mainland and woman have very unrealistic demands...like feet, 7 figures salary, pay for everything in her life, cheats and expects him to put up with it and must have home and sports car. So, that's one of the reasons I don't like it and CCP may crackdowns on dramas like this soon cuz their birth rate has plummeted and dudes completely refuse to date, let alone marry anyone !
