Im usually a lurker on here using it as a means to organize my BL dramas but I felt so compelled to write my first ever review for this show. TharnType has easily made it's way to the top of my BL favorites. This show is packed with tons of cute soft moments from our main couple and I just die every single time. So if you're looking for some good BL content this is the one for you. There is a good amount of angst and fluff from the couple to keep things balanced. Speaking of the couple, I love them to bits! Now I'm not saying they're perfect (for reason's I'll get to in a moment) but the acting from Mew and Gulf really shines and I need them to do more projects together because the chemistry my lordt it was great!

For the story, while I will admit that I didn't watch from the very beginning (actually came in around ep 4/5) I like how the couple ends up and they feel real compared to other BL couples I've experienced. I like how they actually take the time to talk out some of their problems (such as Type being a selfish jerk at times and not taking Tharn's feelings into consideration) and actually working through them like adults, unlike some BL couples who take minor issues and BLOW them way out of proportion. Type's character develop is DEFINITELY my favorite thing in the show. If I'm not wrong I believe I saw that this was Gulf's first BL role and again knocked it out the park. You can never go wrong with having a cold heart Tsundere type falling in love and becoming so naturally soft. It was an interesting to see the homophobe turn into....well a homo lol. My only thing with the show was how they handled to more heavy topic of sexual assault. Now for me BL content isn't meant to be taken that seriously (especially when you have anime like Dakaichi) but, if we're gonna bring up something so sensitive, highlight it, and make it a key component of a character, then I want it to be handled with care. I don't wanna go too far into the subject but all I'll say is Tharn is lucky that Type didn't out right kill him in the beginning for for advances considering how Type is both a victim of assault from a gay man plus he was very homophobic. I love Tharn and I love Type but the first couple of episodes were a bit cringe and made Tharn come off a bit creepy. That's the only reason I couldn't give the story a 10/10...now the acting that's different.

Like I just said, for this to be Gulf's first BL acting gig he did good. He did so well bringing the character to life even down to the little expressions. Even during that argument I mentioned above, when Tharn calls Type out on his behavior, you can see Type's face go wtf for a second as if he's thinking "damn and I really like that? I guess I can be a bit much". That sparks change in him and he tries to be a bit more considerate and genuinely starts to change for Tharn. You can literally see Type's shift in his personality from those minor details. He starts to smile more, he becomes a bit more vulnerable and open to expressing his love, and overall he becomes happier. Easily one of my new fav BL actors. Speaking of the acting, did I mention how great the chemistry is between Mew and Gulf. This pair is seriously a match made in heaven. Too many times there is this awkwardness between couples that makes any intimate interaction feel cringe and forced but NONE of that here. Mew and Gulf took the time to get super comfortable outside the set I'm sure and I would assumed they practiced practiced practiced because that kiss scene (you know the one), best kiss scene from a BL hands down, fight me about it. If they ever get paired together again as leads, it's gonna be an instant watch for me because I just can't get enough of MewGulf.

Sorry if it was a bit wordy. Overall, I seriously enjoyed this show and I love how the universe of TharnType is tied into other shows I've seen and now makes me want to go back and rewatch my other fav series Love By Chance. I didn't realize until about half way through that TharnType are characters I've met before just played by different characters. I believe this is a cute show for both casual viewers and huge fans for the genre. Good fluff, a perfect amount of angst, good chemistry, good storyline, good character development...outside of that one thing I have no complaints. Would definitely recommend this series!
