12 years is quite a lot!! Where the heck are you from??

I personally know someone who married a person older than her by 16 years. I don't need to have an "open mind", in the way you say. Being open minded does not always mean to "accept" more
extremes, or lack of morals or "taboo" things (in general).

Two adult actors that are working together, with 12 years a part is okay. It can be awkward sometimes, but it's fine.

I don't know how you think 12 years isn't that big of a gap, but it is definitely more than normal, or not within a "comfortable" range.

If they are just acting together, yes, it isn't a big deal. They are both adult actors.

Yes, I too hope that Ren Min will be spared...but her character in the 1st novel is ridiculous, to the extreme.
The drama people will be really foolish if they don't improve her character at least some. Ugh.🙄🤪 I want to continue to cheer her/character with Xiao Zhan's.

Hahaha. Oh goodness, save us if it is true.🙄😩 I will feel sorry for Ren Min and the audience if they don't improve her character. She has practically no foresight or the ability to "connect things together" mentality.

I also wonder if they will tone down Shi Ying a bit. He was rather violent (at times) and could be cruel/ruthless (saying or being willing to destroy a whole race of people to find just one
person).

It is good to try to start a new drama with a fairly open mind. I also think everyone judges what they are watching, it is only natural. From her words, it seems like she is trying to give this drama a chance. Not everyone will be bulled over by the same shows or like the same actress/actor or character. 😊 Don't worry.

I do hope that Wu Lei will have more screen time.
I too, prefer seeing some of the backstory, (usually) instead of just being told it, if it isn't too many episodes in the beginning of the main story. 😉
