With any full length C-drama with this number of episodes, I would expect it to take its time for the main lead's relationship. That's the advantage in a series over a movie: much longer running time so more time for characters to develop.

Yuck, sounds like a Bond-type of character. I can't root for men/women whose bedroom is like a revolving door. Ghastly. Can see why they changed it, even if that's how rich men were, it's better for producers to just edit that out to prevent controversies.

What? I've got to disagree there, he emotes brilliantly. The eyes and facial expressions are spot on.
Wasn't a fan of his acting in KMHM but in this, its a masterclass in screen presence and nuance. He's calculating, unnerving and cunning.
Seven Tan plays a lot of similar roles in historical dramas e.g. the smart, fun sized miss who triumphs against adversity. Has she ever played a villain before like he has?

I recall this being said previously about the actress who was in My Sassy Princess (which I agreed with).
Haven't seen Minglan, so I cannot say. If it is, it'll be a deja vi situation all over again.

I don't usually vote until the closing scene of the last episode but a 7.9/10 rating isn't 'too brutal', that's equivalent of an 8/10! 😕

There's nothing between them besides that. I could feel the rage so strongly, I was just waiting for her to stab him with her hairpin.
He tries to catch her out and she tries to obscure what she does. They're like a crook and a police officer, akin to that old film Heat but reworked as a dysfunctional and nominal husband and wife. I doubt they've even consummated their marriage! She has more caring chemistry with her ingots than him.

Just seen the first episode and I'm curious as to why the men die off screen, yet the little girl and the other women's death is show very explicitly? 😕
I would've preferred to see the men die on screen too, if that's the case!

Saw albinism but was disappointed that no one with albinism was cast.
I get that's it's acting but it would've been a great opportunity for an unknown that has albinism to be a learning moment for the public (they're so discriminated against), rather than someone with a white wig on their head, coloured contacts and some white mascara. Oh well!

I'm reading the book and she's described as 'naïve', 'brainless' and this excerpt: 'She sat there, quiet and well-behaved, like the obedient child from next door that people talked about' and 'She didn’t look particularly smart'. Yikes!

So the cringey infantalisation is from the source material, unfortunately. I don't understand what C authors love writing FLs like this!😬

I agree wholeheartedly about this! Pseudo incest is inherently creepy because it romanticises taboo.
I know some here see no issue with that (and many other moral failings) and will defend it like you insulted their family, but I'm personally glad others like yourself won't budge on this 🤗

Not a fan of the xenophobic lines and scenes. They set it in Paris I think it was but write lines like: 'Chinese shouldn't steal from the Chinese' and 'I don't like these foreigners' 😕
Their pairing is OK, but doesn't give me butterflies. Something in their dynamic feels … off somehow. Strange, as he's probably the nearest in age (same birth year) out of her leading men so I had higher hopes!
