AOS was so huge and raised his standards plus the guy is deviously talented, so I understand why fans expects hit marks from him. For me, impossible heir is so far the only show I questioned why he picked it. Deaths game was a brilliant choice, and so was his cameo in kill bookson, as for dear hongrang and the ongoing last summer, I dont think they are bad, they are just not masterpieces. Jaewook is still young, his career is still ahead of him, let's just hope he is able to get on hit scripts again more than the average ones. And yes, he should become more critical on choosing his scripts in order to achieve that.

Okay. I think in the coming episodes, they really have to convince us that FL at least care about the ML. And I don't mean the normal she likes him because we all know she likes him, she just doesn't want to accept it. I want them to show us practically that she at least care about ML in her attitude and behavior towards him. Cause I get it, Hakyung is very stubborn, she doesn't want to accept reality that she feels something for Doha, so she is doing anything to stay away from him, making excuses that they only fight while most atimes, she is the one instigating those fights. I also get the other fact that Doha is the one that is consistently forcing himself into her life no matter how many time she says she doesn't want him. So he deserves the I'll treatment too, I get that also.

But then the show have established it to the audience that she does like him or at least they were once close at a time as friends. she is suppose to show even a little hint that she at least care about this man's feelings. Cuz Doha is an open book as regards his feelings for Hakyung and she knows that better than anyone. The way she behaves with him and the decisions she takes, she doesn't even consider even a little how he will feel or how it will hurt him, he is also human. I know she got the highest blow of their shared trauma, but she should also know it affected Doha too. They have showed us Doha understanding Hakyung pains and his effort to help and support her cause you know let's forget about them liking each other romantically for a minute, they literally grew up together, they are like family. But for Hakyung, we only got to see her looking after Doha in the past, in the present, she only sees her pain, she doesn't care about his or how he was also holding up all those years. or at least they are not showing it as for now. I get she wants to move on, but she doesn't need to totally cut ties and loathe him so much to do that. Anyways let's see how things unfold cuz they seems to be taking the plot gradually

Exactly. That era of watching a show for it's message is gone. Finding the faults has now become the priority. Like they want it to soothe their every taste and if it doesn't, then it's a bad drama. I mean you can't expect a show to be perfect in all areas all the time. For me, if they are still getting the message of the story right, it's very much worth it

I think that has been happening recently over the years and it's a concerning subject. People complain about kdramas being not the same anymore and has left its peak era, while I agree to this, I also believe viewers are also losing the essence of why they are making this shows, I don't know if it's low media literacy or it's now the current trend of expressing ones emotions online.

It's true there are many kdramas made these days that deserved not been liked, but at the same I believe they are many kdramas that are hated and rated low cause it was taking out of context and viewers didn't really get the message.

While truly, there were great kdramas made back in the early days, it's reasonable to say those early dramas all flourished because viewers at that time were reasonable and more understanding

Love triangles is like a culture in kdrama now. In this drama, I don't think any love triangle that will come will be a toxic one

That's true. I still believe and expect them to explain that whole sequence in flashbacks though.

Hakyung is blaming Doha for lying and also she is feeling guilt herself cause she thinks telling Do young that she likes his brother is what made him go to the expedition that led to his death, but most importantly,it is personal guilt from Doyoung, her mother and the fact she had to leave alone in the house for a long time reliving those pain is what ruined her.

As for Doha, I don't think he is forcing a relationship with Hakyung, I believe he wants to help her heal from that pain, guilt and regret of the past. You may be right, maybe he shouldn't force her to face the past and accept it on the other way, maybe he should. The idea of the storytelling at this point is to present it to us as raw and humane as it is, Doha believes facing the trauma and forgiving herself and healing from it is what will grant her true happiness cause they have handled it over the years by staying apart and still it didn't work, non of them is truly happy, as for Hakyung, she believes changing location, staying away from Doha and keeping the past locked up will help her to move on. I believe the idea of the writer is for us to look at this holistically and found out which step is right as the story progresses. They are both right and wrong at the same time , that's the beauty of it. I would have been sold out to the idea that Doha should listen to her and let her be if she maintained that anger and hostility towards Doha from Ep1, but on the contrary, as the story progresses, we can see Doha forcing her to confront those traumas is kind of having a positive effect also. Ep4 was the proof of that. For the first time ever since the past tragedy, she could be herself again, laugh and play games showing true happiness unlike we have seen since the show began and she was even able to talk about her mother, someone she has kept locked up in a box all those years.

This hints to us that maybe, facing this trauma is indeed necessary, maybe to rediscover herself and be truly happy again, she has to face those wounds before she can heal wholly. Or on the other hand, maybe it wouldn't change anything. That is where the ended Ep4, the both of them finally agreeing to give it a try of living together, facing those pain together till the end of the season and discover if it will help them rediscover themselves and heal or not.(and Doha promised to back out totally if that still doesn't work in the end) Ep4 for me settled all the laggings of the the first 3 episodes and set the story back on board

Haven said this, the drama may actually go on and build this characters and develop them and the story till the end OR the writer may destroy the shows potential and mess it up at the end. All will depend on how the show will unfold.

Doha's case is still the same as Hakyung, he is still ridden by pain, guilt and regret of the past. But in his own case, he seems to have taken a step forward. Haven done the same thing over the years and following the "let's get out of each other's lives, let's not see each other again" he realized it didn't change anything for both of them. So he said I will take a new step. Personally I believe it's the right step for both of them to face thi trauma s and heal together before moving on. If going away doesn't solve this, lets try being close together and even though it hurt at the moment, lets try and endure it and see if it will make a difference. That's why he is so adamant now cause he has done the same thing over and over again and it didn't work, both Hakyung and Him are still not happy even while living apart.

Sometimes you need a catalyst to be able to face what you have been afraid to face or do in life. and Doha is acting as the catalyst at the moment. Whether he's plan will work or not depends on how the story unfolds .

Now the character development for Doha as the story progress should be him seeking forgiveness from Hakyung genuinely, his intentions may had been good, but it hurt her costly. I think them living together will make him get her point of view better, what she has been through all those years alone in that house and be able to make it up for her. He first need to forgive himself, then seek forgiveness from Hakyung and be there for her even if at the end they ends up as romantic partners or not.

He's character is kind of pro active and less emotional. So learning to see from Hakyung point of view will be the development for him.

I can go on discussing this till tomorrow cause I kind of relate with this story but let me just summarize it.

Presently, Hakyung want to leave the house, forget about Doha and start her life somewhere else. She believes that is the right thing for her and will make her happy again. On this she is both right and wrong. The truth is The peanut house and Doha is not what is causing her pain Rather It's the guilt, regret and pain of the past. Did we notice, she still wasn't truly happy even when Doha was still in U.S. she hardly sleep, keep getting flashes of the past at all times and though she is using her busy office life as a pretense that she is happy, its obviously a lie. That pain still lingers, that guilt still hides in the corner and that regret still keeps knocking. Changing location will never change that. You need to confront your demons and face it till you heal, after that, then you can now move on. Sometimes what we think is right is not what is best for us. Yes it's okay for her to move on, but she will never move on without first dealing with that trauma, swallowing it inside untill she forgives herself, forgive Doha and make peace with the past in the present, that is what will grant her True happiness. She is supposed to move on after she has dealt with that and I believe that's the sole purpose of why Doha returned back. So they can face their pain, guilt and regret and heal together.

Now coming to our leads, cause they are the core aspect of the story telling in this show. After watching ep1 to 4, what I learnt is Doha and Hakyung are both imperfect, both flawed. That tragic past had an irreversible effect in their lives so much that it has shaped them to who they are now. I noticed the both characters are ridden by guilt and that guilt is why they are both acting the way they are acting now. One of the things I find amusing in our leads is that they are both driven by guilt, regret their past decision and actions, sacrificial and still yet they are both a little selfish 😅

Now when watching a drama, you may notice some things could have been handled better and it's fine, sometimes the film makers execution may not be perfect but if they are still getting the most important part of the story, then it's enough to keep you watching.

Taking Last Summer for example, the pacing of the revelation of the past and some little aspect could have been handled better nevertheless, the show is still sticking to the theme and story (which is characters shaped and broken by their past and circumstances loosing their identity in life finding way into healing and rediscovery) it promised, so its very okay.

This is one of the most realistic and humane characters and story have seen in a drama for a while now, I believe that's why some of us have issues with this show. One thing about watching a humane characters in a show is that it reminds you of that bad/good aspect of yourself or someone you know, seeing those things that we do in real life or some of the attitudes we or other people around us posses on TV kinda triggers one In a certain way.

Now let's take our leads for example. Before that we should remember Last Summer is just in Ep4, we still got 8 episodes and a lot of development for these characters coming, I will advise we watch this show to the end or at least to Ep10 before questioning their choices and attitudes. The center of this drama is the journey of the characters, who they were, who they are now because of circumstances and who they will decide to be in the future. It's a gradual process, so you got give them time to tell this story or wait till the show is completed before watching then you judge.

Yes Do young who lives in south Korea with his dad is the one that died. Doha who lives in the U.S. is the one she likes. She doesn't like the both of them, she only considers Do young as her friend (she confessed to Do young that she is in love with his brother Doha)

One thing I love about this drama is the heartwarming and healing vibes. Watching it feels like I'm in a therapy section. I so much relate to it.

Secondly, it's the lack of toxicity. There are no evil or toxic characters at all. Just broken and imperfect people trying to do better.

Another aspect is how natural everything is in this show, the acting, cinematography e.t.c.

I just finished Ep4. You right. It was so unfortunate. He only meant to take his place for a short while 🥲

Hakyung finding out suddenly her best friend died a year ago while she didn't know, believing he was alive all the while cause Doha kept it from her and couldn't mourn his death, her crashout is justified, no matter the reason, that is very wrong.

On the other hand, Doha did it with good intentions, knowing the bond they all had with one another, he couldn't bring himself to tell Hakyung the truth about his brother's death fearing it will cause her great pain. At the end he ended up hurting Hakyung and himself even more, both couldn't grief well and he wasn't able to be there for her during those trying times. Even though he had good intentions, his actions were wrong

'The things we do for love' this is so realistic and humane 🥺
