It's more like the production is disrespecting the work of everyone involved by accepting subtitles that are at this level. That's cheapening everyone else's job.

At this point that's the most interesting thing in the show. Why is he like that? Why does Khon like Pleum really, does he not see he is a controlling asshat?

I'm rediscovering my annoyance with "I'll leave first... I'll send you home" etc. Luckily you didn't need to understand much of the dialogue, nothing happened that couldn't have been told better in 15 minutes, it was such a drag. Maybe there will be payoff in later episodes, but for now they are filling the time with a bunch of nothing.

This show has my kind of premise. Here is hoping they do something good with the storyline and not just let it go to waste! No necklaces in episode 2 please, no human necklaces, no pearl necklaces, no nothing.

So, my answer is simplified and full of generalizations, but hopefully no massive mistakes 😄. In general BL is Asian LGBTQ content, but not the kind that realistically describes the lived experience of the LGBTQ community. Lately there's been some improvement on that front. Sometimes there are arguments because the content is not realistic and can be offensive to the LGBTQ community. BL is a term from Asia while in the West you might hear MM for example. Basically Yaoi (originally content made by women for women) is an older umbrella term for all subgenres like shonen-ai, but BL can be used as a synonym for Yaoi nowadays. Danmei is Chinese Yaoi/BL. So basically Yaoi, BL and Danmei are all the same thing, most people just say BL here. When individual people use all these terms they can mean slightly different things to everyone, so if you get confused, it's good to keep that in mind. Also, many fans don't know actual LGBTQ people or understand basic things about their lives, because they are young or uninformed for cultural reasons or whatever it might be. So yeah, the fandom can be fun, but sometimes it gets absurd and messy and there are even virtual brawls 😄.

If you are new to BL, you should know you will get this reaction if you ask about tops and bottoms or semes and ukes in Yaoi tradition. You will get this reaction by default wherever you bring this up that has any BL fans that are LGBTQ allies, because it is considered ignorant and unsupportive of the community. Many will think you are fetishizing the community and there will be conflict. People will take this question personally, so ask it at your own risk. If you are interested, you could do a google search on what BL and Yaoi are, so you don't get in too much trouble 🙂. Also, if you click on calendar on the top of this page, you see all the shows airing on a specific day and if you hover next to the time, a small i for info appears and it states the time zone Asia/Tokyo Asia/Bangkok etc.

There's a countdown clock under the introduction. It says 11h 44min until the episode starts airing. Have you really not noticed it's always on the page of every show that's currently airing?

The flashbacks were pretty clear to me. They provided insight in to the feelings of both male leads. You could see they were both interested in each other from the beginning and that the one with insomnia could fall asleep with his crush around, because being around his crush made him feel content and at peace, not that he was using the crush as a sleeping pill. The one thing you have to be able to do, as a viewer, is be observant enough to notice the clothing is different in high school, that's how you easily know when there's a flashback, even if it's not your culture and the difference is obvious already.

That's not new. Korean actors almost never speak comprehensible English. He is delicious though!

There's usually plenty of subtext in his facial expressions, but that one scene where he told Zo he likes him, that blank face he had while hugging Zo... I don't get it, was it on purpose or was it bad directing and acting?

This is an old school feast of clichés. It's an okay watch as long as you are aware of it.

Chinese novel "Don’t You Like Me"

I'm a sucker for the concept so I'm currently reading the novel this is based on. I'm weak LOL.

Episode 3 gave me 'lets use Bad Buddy as an inspiration'- vibes. The list of three things needed for a relationship was like Pa's list for Pat. Joke even said to Zo, "you are being weird", which was the last on the list i.e. you have a hard time acting normal. Just like Pat when he ran out of the music shop. The phone Karate was a lot like the chopstick fight etc.

I think it was said in the behind the scenes episode that it's a newbie director.
