Drive-by Theory [Post Episode 10] (Work Thing came up today and I didn't get to type up a proper one):
Uncle Guan and Tang Yi are married. I originally thought Uncle Guan was a young widower (and would eventually start dating Tang Yi) when he said "my wife" in Episode 3. Now I think he might be Tang Yi's husband. It would explain:
• Why Uncle Guan knows so many journalists. • Why Uncle Guan seems to be on top of all the articles published by Financial Journal (the magazine his wife is Editor of). • Why Uncle Guan had heard of Shuyi (his wife's mentee) (divorced from "Oh, I happened to read an article written by you"). • Why Tang Yi keeps insisting to Shuyi that mentoring Yue is a personal favor to her. • It would definitely explain where Shi Yan learned the mindset and why he is so adamant about segregating personal hours and work hours when spending time with a woman he cares about. • Heck, it even explains how Shi Yan got a hold of Shuyi's article a few years ago. ---cough--- Right around the time he and Bei Lin split up ---cough--- 🎶 Matchmaker, matchmaker - make me a match.
