I think he was brilliant with how he defeated 2ML. Not only did he win, while abiding by her restrictions - he got her to see him as always choosing her and 2ML picking others over her. Brilliant move.
Anyone else watch the previews for Episodes 9 & 10 at least 12 times? (I may have scheduled my meetings at 7am and 10am this morning, leaving a 2-hour gap starting at 8am for no reason I could possibly think of)
I don’t know about anyone else but I freaking love every second of it. I mean I have been waiting for this drama…
Wáng Hè Dì has gotten bashed by several people due to his acting in Miss the Dragon. I am not sure how to process that: he was acting that character - who was supposed to be automatonish. I personally did not care for his character in The Rational Life, but I did not like his character because he played it well - it was the character I did not care for. I can not speak to his work in Ever Night 2, as I have not seen it. He showed great potential and raw talent in his debut in MG 18. I am loving his work here. He has always excelled at micro expressions, as well as body language - which makes sense. I have seen a few BTS and he seems like a very physical person, hyperkinetic and playful.
So, due to the fact that the previews for Episode 9 and 10 were posted without subtitles, my brain filled in it's own dialogue and I am now concerned the real script might not measure up!
I'm dying for the couple dynamics in this. Even though ML is the strongest being in the world, he can't deal with…
Wáng Hè Dì shines when there is an agricultural nickname involved. Little Weed, Little Orchid. The power dynamics in both of those relationships is rather similar, yet we most assuredly see more of his range as an actor here.
@_sunflower_ King is Not Easy is the exact same. I would have enjoyed this drama much more if I had watched it with the expectations of It being "So Bad It's Good" the way you watch the film Attack of the Killer Shrews. Do NOT take it seriously. The writing is exceedingly poor, the plot is poorly structured, which is dramatically juxtaposed by the excellent actors - an oddly addicting combination. (Rather looking forward to seeing them in other projects) Perfectly summed up by the collective shrug of the leads when a 4th? 6th? (Who Can Keep Track Any More?) Retcon Twist happens "Let's go back to sleep." Hilarious and perfect just the way it is, as long as you don't want it to be something it isn't.
Of interesting note IQIYI is also releasing the dònghuà version of this in July. Will they be coming out concurrently? It might be interesting to watch both and see the individual adaptations and characterizations. Honestly, at this point I feel like the Chinese entertainment industry views Jiu Lu Fei Xiang as Midas.
For sure it won't be "The Rational Life" Dylan, more of the "Miss The Dragon" Dylan but better. At least the couple…
I have not seen The Day of Becoming You yet. It is on my list.
I have been wanting to see him in a body swap plot since that Who is Harriet? scene where he is the girl in the date roleplay in MG'18. He really nailed the body language (in an over-the-top, cliché comedy way). I think it will be fun to see him switch back and forth between feminine body language and stoic Demon Lord.
