I'm also wondering... did you have your eyes and ears covered for about 80% of show because that was pretty much…
Didn't you know? Until two people sleep together, we are not calling it romance. That leaves asexual people in the dust but who cares?
But really, romance is not just about kissing and papapa. I think what these two have is peak romance and calling them anything less than lovers is a crime.
I've watched this scene so many times just to ogle at ZZS that I think WKX's gonna kill me out of jealousy lol-https://purplexedhuman.tumblr.com/post/650635965955702784/the-first-time-ever-i-saw-your-face-i-thought
ZZH laoshi is always incredibly handsome but I swear they went over and beyond in that unmasking scene to make him look ethereal (And for a reason. Kexing sees his real face for the first time, I guess they wanted to emphasize how beautiful Kexing sees him) . Especially when they are sitting over the fire, there is something about him that takes one's breath away. No wonder Lao Wen couldn't take his eyes off of him lol
So I might be saying something controversial here, but that is okay, it is just my opinion and not meant to offend…
I think you categorizing it as queerbaiting is not an attack (I never said that) but is small minded, especially if you come from the west where you can do anything. If you never lived in communism, you don't know what it is like. My parents and grandparents did. So putting western standards on a communist country is not fair. I have nothing more to add to this conversation. We both agree to disagree.
I may have repeated that scene a hundred times just to catch the change in the hair color second by second....first…
When the credits started rolling, I remember I screamed "WHAT?" with tears in my eyes and was about to square up. I was so angry because my friend kept assuring me that relax, it doesn't have a bad ending (I had no idea about the special episode, I thought she played a trick on me) and it just ended with Chengling's story, Kexing dead. I really, in that moment started having Guardian flashbacks.
I will definitely never forget them, they are part of the Chinese BL history and oh my god, what a part they are. I, from the bottom of my heart like the cast and I barely do that. I don't like to get attached but without knowing, I did. I hope we will get to see ZZH and GJ in a drama together one day and I don't care if it is not a BL. I just love them together on screen.
I am curious if we can collect what scenes were improvized. I really love this type of stuff and would like to know more about them. I know: - episode 12, off the shoulder robe thing was ZZH's idea - episode 27 alternate version with Zishu's head on Kexing's houlder was also improvized - episode 3 Is it pretty? It's perfect.
That deleted scene was added onto the ep. 12 Special Version on YT: https://youtu.be/emcoXx7T9d8It’s also added…
Also, the off the shoulder robe was actually ZZH's idea, though he said he now forgot why he originally had that idea. But he had a specific feeling during shooting that scene, it's just been a while and he can't recall what it was.
So I might be saying something controversial here, but that is okay, it is just my opinion and not meant to offend…
In my opinion, it is not queerbaiting. It would be queerbaiting, if the censorship would not exist. The cast went out of their way to show support to WenZhou as much as they could. Queerbaiting is a really nasty thing in my eyes and comes with a negative connotation that the WoH crew, the whole staff, everyone who worked on this project don't deserve. I respect your opinion, though, I am just sharing mine.

That scene, when it ended, I actually started to bawl my eyes out. The emotional building of it, starting out from a point where the viewers think that everything is gonna be okay, Kexing got this. Then the big reveal comes that nope, he actually lied and is about to give his life up for his A-Xu. That whole monologue Kexing gives to deaf A-Xu, like the viewer is screaming at A-Xu to hear, to open his eyes..the close ups on Kexing's face, you know it is breaking him, he doesn't want to leave A-Xu but he is kinda selfish because he would rather die than lose A-Xu AND he knows it is gonna hurt the one staying alive but he is just too scared to be the one left behind (beautifully delivered by Gong Jun and was a genuinely amazing work from the director).
Then A-Xu opens his eyes and they show Kexing's hands sliding down and A-Xu desperately holding onto him. I love when they show them from afar. Kexing zzzzz-ing and Zishu all crushed. And the viewer is crushed too because wtf, the drama just ended like that?? I am thankful for the mercy they showed us with the special episode. I genuinely think I would be a mourning zombie for like a month if not for knowing they made it, they survived somehow.
Sorry for the long comment, I am still an emotional mess. Can function now, though! lol
To be honest, I rlly want to watch until the end but I find it rlly hard to motivate myself.... I'm not a fan…
Which episode are you at? I wasn't vibing with it at first, I loved the book and it was fun to find easter eggs, I also found the chemistry between the leads really good. I thought it would be a fun time but nothing special, yet here I am, bewitched this bad first time since The Untamed. To me, the best thing about this drama is our lead couple. You can feel the honesty and care they put into their characters through your screen. The OST is superb and the dialogues are something else. They are deep but not pretentious. I love how "trust" comes up throughout the drama. So don't force yourself too much to like it, but if you are as sappy as me, finding the whole concept of soulmates and new beginnings the most romantic things ever, you are gonna love it anyway.
Immortality delay airing has nothing to do with WOH. Rumors should not be trusted. Chinese drama will pull out…
I think pulling the plug on the April airing date because of WoH is a reasonable theory and I would have done the same too. No one expected a low budget BL to do this well, Immortality having to be rivals with it would have been embarrassing for Tencent. Whatever happened, it is for the best it got pushed back. Everyone is still high on WoH.
Shout-out to Gong Jun and Zhang ZheHan for being amazing and taking their roles seriously even when they knew it was a low budget BL. I can't get over their genuine respect for this project. A lot of BL actors sadly half ass their performances but not these two. All those improved scene like "A-Xu, A-Xu, A-Xu - Lao Wen, Lao Wen, Lao Wen" .. I am becoming emotional again, someone pass me a tissue, please.
Hahaha... if he got best actor award because of WOH he should say thank you to Zhang Zhehan because Zhang Zhehan…
Yeah, I heard ZZH kept praising and encouraging him which probably boosted his confidence. I am so glad he got paired up with someone like ZZH who he could build a trusting and positive environment with. You can definitely see it on their chemistry.
It so goood but I had to put listening it on hold because I am still mourning the loss of the drama and hearing the songs make me incredibly emotional. It will definitely go down in my book as one of the best drama OSTs.
This scene in episode 18 is now one of my favorite scenes ever: https://i.postimg.cc/qB6df4wP/Screenshot-2021-05-06-at-4-13-59-PM.pngPerfection.
Mine too! This is the moment ZZS and WKX cement their trust for each other (them exploding out of that hole and laying breathless, content on the grass is just..yeah. They consummated that trust). In an early episode Zishu says "trust should be mutual" and he takes off his mask then, giving Kexing and ultimately himself a chance. I just love their dialogues, they come back in full circles, building on each other, giving us beautifully deep scenes like the one you mentioned . To me, that is the the second biggest strength of this drama after WenZhou's chemistry.
Oh wow, a lot of people seem to adore this drama. I started the first episode but then I dropped it. It is not that I hated it but I was not in the mood and it seemed a little bit boring. So you guys are saying it is worth it, huh? I think I'll give this one another chance, I love Guardian and I saw some people say they are similar in certain aspects.
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!! ZhangZhehan and GongJun will have a chance to work together again in the future project!…
ZZH and GJ treated the shippers in such a pro way that I could definitely see them working together again in the future. What I saw from here and there, their fans get along quite well. Together these two could be such a force in the drama scene. Please someone, make this happen!
