This drama is rated higher than My Demon, Her Private Life, Pinocchio, Suspicious Partner, He Is Psychometric. Are…
I can't believe My Demon is in this list of "better" dramas...
Suspicious Partner is, in my opinion, a very mid drama with only good chemistry and spicy scenes between the leads to make it noteworthy (despite how awful the FL is as a character--she was written as clumsy and unintelligent as Kdrama FLs come).
And as for Pinnochio, that drama is over 10 years old. To maintain an 8.3 after all this years is not shabby, especially when paired with the number of watchers it has. It should have a higher rating, but it's dated, and that makes it a hard sell for people discovering Kdramas now when compared against beautifully filmed dramas from the last 6 or 7 years when Kdrama production quality skyrocketed. The writing is some of the best, though.
He Is Psychometric is fine, but I think that a low 8 score for it is deserved.
Don't worry, this drama's score will eventually drop over time, especially if it continues as it's been going. It's cute and enjoyable so far, but no masterpiece by any means.
The ML does look far more natural by comparison. He didn't even get eyelid surgery! I so respect when they embrace the monolid.
The reality, though, is that ALL actors are probably doing some form of plastic surgery (however minimal) in SK in order to keep up with those going all in. I do wish the Korean entertainment industry could try to backtrack some on the insane beauty culture standards. It's getting to a concerning extent sometimes (and the Chinese entertainment industry is no better!).
Can you, guys, give me recommendations for good cdramas like this one? I rarely watch cdramas, so dunno what's…
I will also add Flourished Peony and its second season, In The Name Of Blossom. The second season is a bit controversial because it does have some angst, but when I saw the angst as part of the leads growth in learning to extend the human dignity of freedom and choice, and allowing their significant other to make choices as free individuals--it comes together. The drama (like Jadewind) does a lot to comment on gender roles and the way society has men treat women (in general, and when in relationships). It's fascinating and got me thinking for days. 😅 Just know season 2 does go through a rough patch that I could justify within the overall narrative arc of our leads. You just have to keep the big picture in perspective.
I don't think tradwives would approve of daycare and working full-time with a toddler, though? So this is not…
I see, you're labelling the people who are annoyed by the FL as tradwives or supporters of this perspective. I honestly think both the leads are fairly flawed so far, but I think the drama does a good job just showing them as normal humans beings (as normal as humans can be in a Kdrama, of course 😉).
i get why nobody in korea is watching this show tbh bc even if it wasn't outright baby propaganda it's making…
I don't think tradwives would approve of daycare and working full-time with a toddler, though? So this is not promoting the tradwife lifestyle from what I can see. 🤔
The actor lineup for this is wildly stacked, but the director's track record is not good (e.g. same director as the director of Strong Girl Nam Soon.... Yikes; that drama was a trainwreck...). 😬
The fl is getting unfair treatment from both production and writers. Why are all the clips im seeing of the ml…
I agree with @Anpn20 (great points!), but also, I think it's for the cuteness of factor, and catering to the audience? The audience (most likely the majority is female) probably enjoys seeing the ML with the baby more than the FL because they're used to seeing women with babies. It's what society expects, so instead, it's fun and refreshing for women to see men step into that space and hold their own. 🤷♀️

Nirvana In Fire, Seasons 1 and 2 (though they are kind of in the "old/slightly dated" category, they are excellent dramas).
