The romance in this show is coming along just fine. I'm even liking the various other couples, even if they're just nonsensical. Episode 10 with the father interaction was pretty funny, even though it petered out.
The main thing that's dragging this show down for me is the "business" side of the storyline. I know I shouldn't be thinking about it so much, but it's just pure brainrot.
The renewal contract tied to taking care of the health and wellbeing of Ye-Jin. What are the parameters and how do you gauge it? How long is the contract for cause she was just supposed to be a one-time host for the Korean product launch? Who would sign that, even if they're desperate? and why is the contract null and void after the failed launch? Shouldn't one or both parties be able to sue for breach?
We've had not one, but two products being actively sabotaged. Michelle, it's being implied, sprinkled in the microbes herself to destroy her brother, I guess? and were they using a shell company with actors at the manufacturers. If Eric wants to talk to the manager there, just go to the factory. Beyond that, I may be misremembering, but didn't Eric say there was product available to sell even without the renewal? and the Good Morning Cream that the CEO, but probably the coworker, cut corners and replaced the ingredients in. (What's cheaper than replacing lotion ingredients with cheaper lotion ingredients ...Hmm... I know .....acid). If the lotion costs more to make than one can justifiably price to make up for it, they probably should've figured that out in the planning stages. If anything, just sell the recipe to someone who could turn a profit.
I can suspend my disbelief at the number of mushrooms available versus how many would be needed to make one bottle of serum, but some of the other stuff I just can't fathom. (A pump that only pumps 50% of the product before failure and you need someone outside the company to tell you that?)
The funny thing is, when this show's not airing, I kind of forget it exists and then Wednesday rolls around and I see it and I'm like .."Oh, yeah, that's a show I've been watching..."
Really great series, but I feel like I need some therapy after that. In lieu of taking antidepressants, if anyone is writing some Ryu/Arata fanfiction let me know. 💕
