I'm in the US as well. Has nothing to do with the school. My PhD is online actually; I've been on a medical leave for over a year now. When I'm ready to return is when I'll start my dissertation. :)
I also usually watch dramas only of the ppl I follow or if the plot itself interests me. Also the drama has to speak to me. I like Dilraba but "Love Designer" didn't speak to me for some reason even if it had two other actors I follow in supporting roles. Everyone has their own quirks I suppose.

I have to return to school first; then dissertation happens. In the meantime I'm just taking things a day at a time.
I may be in the minority but I never have expectations when watching something. If my fave actors are in it (I follow a lot of ppl), I trust they do a good job but that's it really just because each story is different even if many premises are similar. Like I click on the comment section of a random show and constantly see ppl disappointed because they're comparing drama A with drama B just because both had a certain background. I approach each drama with an open mind.

I have a historical fiction novel I was writing that I start and stop. Want to finish that soon. Also have my dissertation to write for my PhD, I hope to return to school this year. But I haven't rewatched in a few days and that original craze has started to fade for me. I may watch one of my random series that came out but weren't huge hits, just to tie myself over until something I'm looking forward to drops. That's probably the direction I'll head in. :)
Your Waer is also your She'er? Not sure if you are aware, all the voices, with the exception of one or two, were…
It just sounded funny in 49 is all. I started following LYN and WL on Weibo after this and he's (LYN) actually filmed one or two other costume dramas after TLB; though lately he's just been flying btwn reality shows and occasional endorsements. He's def a smaller caliber actor then Dilraba. I don't know ZL at all outside of this drama. LYN first and foremost is a singer which helps with pronunciation too. I have found many of their actors always feel a sense of accomplishment when they can dub their own dramas. Gives them more insight into their characters. Dubbers are cheaper of course, but it's better for actor and audience if they do it themselves. But that's my humble opinion.
His name, Sǔn, uses the third tone in Mandarin. It may sound nasal because it's a falling-rising tone, and the…
Actually not what I meant; just in that particular conversation is how it came off. But thank you for explaining the intonation. I'm guess that's where the falcon came from as well.
Some ppl waited 3 years for "The Wolf"; this is only 1.5 years since wrapping. I hope it doesn't take that long, but fans have to remember that patience is virtue. No other choice.
Btw new and a old folks here; plz don't forget to also rate/review on IMDb.com; just like here it's free and easy to create an account and it counts towards more of the international ratings! Thanks!
Some general observations (not criticism); even though for us in translation AS' name was spelled "Sun" everyone himself included pronounced it like "Sw-en" or "Ah Swen". Found it funny that in 49 in AS' and She'er's last face off, it sounded like Waer was holding his nose when he said AS as the name came off rather nasal. These are just my own observations.
