A thirty-something gal who has been watching Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) dramas since early 90s and Japanese dramas since early 2000s.
In general, I watch a lot of slice of life, romance and mystery. Historical and modern. But I will frequently venture out of my comfort zone and watch genres that I'm not a huge fan of, like xianxia. I've just accepted the fact that I'll watch anything I deem interesting even if it's not popular. A drama just needs to have a hook to reel me in.
I also tend to drop dramas if I'm not completely hooked by 10-15 episodes (Chinese dramas are so long!) but will also drop it 2-3 episodes before the finale if I just don't care anymore.
